December 30, 2009 PM

Just a reminder to always look in the Class List before you try and contact anyone. I do get updates from time to time and just update the list without telling you. The most recent list has an address change for Robert Schaffer and an email change for Doris Hinds.

December 15, 2009 AM

I had announced back on October 31st that I had been in touch with the long lost Gloria Jones. She had sent me a picture at that time which has since been posted in the Then and Now section. I can now reveal that her name is Gloria Moss and her email address has been posted in the class list. She may be sending some bio data soon, but until then, feel free to contact her via email. I think she will be pleasantly surprised to hear from you. She is still a busy lady and your email may not get answered quickly, but it will get answered.

December 12, 2009 PM

I recently emailed everyone a link to the Natick Bulletin/Tab which has published a story about the memorial display we have for Allen Loane at the Morse Institute Library.

For those of you who have not been able to access the Natick Bulletin/Tab online, here is the text of the story.

Here is the link one more time if you want to try again.

November 25, 2009 AM

Your reunion committee held a wrap party last night, 11/24/2009, to engage in a collective sigh of relief that we are DONE. At least for 5 years. Click here to see proof of how hard we labored at this final meeting.

We do have one piece of unfinished business and that is how to donate money in the name of our class to something in Natick that will have at least some longevity. The surprise of the night is that the action to finish that piece of business was given to me. Shocking.

Anyway, I will keep you all informed of my progress.

November 16, 2009 PM

The Allen Loane Memorial has been completed. It is currently located on the main floor of the library at the bottom of the stairs leading up to the second floor. Walk in the main door, look to your left, there are stairs going down to where the 50th Reunion photos are posted and you should see the stairs leading up to the second floor when looking left as well. I have linked all the Allen Loane pictures to higher resolution versions. Just click on the picture and another window will open with the better picture.

You can find all the Library Display pictures by going to the 50th Reunion Summary Page and clicking on Library Displays. Did I really have to tell you that? Yes I did.

I will update you all when and if any of these displays gets some ink in any local paper. Think the Natick Bulletin and Tab, not MetroWest Daily News.

November 11, 2009 AM

The Library Displays are 99% complete. I think that they may add a few more pictures from the 50th reunion on Thursday morning, but for the most part, they are complete. I have taken pictures and posted them. Look in the 50th Reunion Summary Page and click on Library Display.

November 9. 2009 AM

As promised in my most recent email, all the pictures from Jeff Loane, Allen’s brother are now posted on the web. You can click here or go to Allen’s Memorial Page.

While I have notified everyone via email, I have not mentioned in this blog that the library, Morse Institute, will be displaying many items from the Class of 1959, most notably our 50th Reunion. This display will be completed this week and will run for about two months. They have also given us a floor mounted case on the first floor for an Allen Loane Memorial. This display will be ready on November 16th and run for 6 months. Russ Barber has provided most of the material for this display along with the pictures from Jeff Loane.

Hopefully some of you will get to see these displays in person. I will take pictures and post them on this web site.

October 31, 2009 AM

Gloria Jones has provided a current picture which has been posted. I am hoping that she will provide some bio data soon.

Jeff Loane, Allen’s brother, has sent me some photos taken just before he left for Vietnam. I am going though them now and should have something to post soon.

October 15, 2009 PM

I have finally made contact with Gloria Jones. She is alive and well. She has agreed to send me a current picture and I have asked for some personal information about her, like address, phone number, etc. If she provides all that and doesn’t have a problem with it being published, I will send out an email with all the data.

October 11, 2009 AM

Just thought you would all like to know that the Framingham Class of 1959 had their reunion on the same night as we did. While they had a bigger student population, they did NOT have as many classmates attend as we did. We beat them again, 88 to 84. Way to go.

Another note of interest. I was trying to locate relatives of Allen Loane to try and get some pictures of him in his military uniform. I had been told by my sister, a member of the class of 1956 which was also the class of Jeff Loane, Allen’s brother, that Jeff had passed away some time ago. Well, lo and behold, Jeff is not deceased. I finally tracked him down in Kentucky. He has quite a bit of material from Allen’s Marine days. He agreed to look through what he had and will send me some things that we should be able to use to update the fine memorial material put together by Russ Barber.

September 30, 2009 AM

OK, it is time to take a breather. All the pictures in my possession worth seeing have been posted. I am going on a small vacation from this activity.

September 29, 2009 PM

I could use some help here. Can someone identify the 3 people at the table with Marikay Peterson? Picture

Many more pictures have been added. Frank Hess provided me with the latest and Carol LePage has sent me some via burro. And I haven’t loaded all the pictures taken by the Class Photographer yet. When all is done, I will issue an email to all. Until then, browse around. If you have any trouble viewing any pictures. Let me know via email. Please give them time to load the page. If you get an X in the upper left hand corner of a picture frame that means there is a file missing and I have screwed up.

September 27, 2009 PM

The final numbers(classmate total only, does not include guest count):

·         Friday                   61

·         Saturday              94 paid, 88 showed up

·         Sunday                 59

More pictures yet to come.

September 26, 2009 PM

The class picture is now posted with numbers on everyone and a list of names by numbers.  Kevin Keane has been added on the upper right as an inset.

September 26, 2009 AM

The class picture has arrived and is now posted on the 50th Reunion Summary page. I will be adding names to all the people shown, just in case you can’t recognize everyone. I think we only have one person who was there who did not get in the picture. That would be Kevin Keane. I will cut him in as an inset very soon.

September 24, 2009 AM

I just added a new page to show everyone the plaques that were presented to the four invited teachers. It is located in the 50th Reunion Summary Page.

I would like to acknowledge that Miss Hope was presented with a beautiful corsage created and donated by Charlene Pinkham. I was supposed to pin it on her, but I deferred to Miss Hope’s husband who promptly gave it to her and she pinned it on herself. What is wrong with us?

The Class Picture should be arriving later this week or early next week. If you did not attend, but would like a picture, please contact the photographer directly. He did make a few extra copies. Price is $10 each. His contact information is:

John Sahagian

September 23, 2009 AM

I have been loading pictures by the ton. So many pictures on one HTML page takes a long time to load so I just broke things down into smaller groups. Be patient, they still take a long time to load. Internet Explorer takes longer than Mozilla. If you have cable, loading shouldn’t take too long. If you have dial up, shut down the computer, get in your car and come to my house to view the pictures. It doesn’t matter where you live, driving here will be quicker than waiting for the pages to load at 56KB.

I still have more pictures and maybe some more format changes. When I think I’m all done, I will send out an email.

By the way, in one of the Cocktail Time pictures, we seem to have a special quest show up in one of the pictures. She happens to be a personal friend of mine. I hope you can spot her.

September 20, 2009 PM

Thanks to the Patriots I have had the time to work on some of the pictures today. I just loaded up a ton of pictures from Saturday night. There will be more, later in the week. Just click on the 50th Reunion Summary link.

If anyone has problems viewing the pictures, please notify me via email as soon as you can. Let me know what web browser you are using, what operating system software and the type of computer, Mac vs. IBM compatible. I have checked Internet Explorer, Mozilla and Safari.

September 19, 2009 AM

I have loaded many pictures from Friday night at the VFW, many more to come.

All of Diane Campisi’s pictures from Saturday at the Dolphin have been loaded. Many thanks to Diane.

Ron Therieau has sent me many pictures from both Friday and Saturday which will get processed soon.

If anyone else took pictures that they would like to see on the web site, send them along, email or via US Post. Please burn a CD. I have scanned way too many documents and pictures to want to do any more.

September 15, 2009 AM

I have just put up a few teaser pictures from Friday night. I need to get some other things done before the rain starts. I’ll get back to processing photos very soon.

If anyone took some pictures that they would like to donate to the web site, please send them my way. Burning a CD would probably be best. Give me the raw images from your camera. I will fix them up.

Who’s Coming

Here is a current list of those classmates who have given a hard commitment (i.e. sent in their check) to attend. Who’s Coming.  The numbers seem stable. Friday(120) only has 5 people attending who are not also attending Saturday(165). Sunday has 104 at the Brunch and Tour.

The Golf List. Rained out.

September 14, 2009 AM

I can’t believe that I’m back on the web site less than 24 hours after the last 50th reunion function.

Much to do to document the 3 day event.

From my perspective, all the work that the committee put into this is a distant second to the fact that you all showed up. That’s what made this a great reunion. Many, many thanks from all of us to all of you for making this a rousing success.

After an appropriate amount of time for catching my breath, I will begin processing about 1000 pictures taken by my son, Diane Campisi and Ron Therieau. If anyone else took pictures and would like to share them, please put them on a CD and send them to me.

I will do my best to update the Who’s Coming list and turn it into a Who Attended list.

And I will send out an email once I start loading pictures.

September 12, 2009 PM

Just got a call from Peggy Burt. She has a new email address that has been updated in the class list. She and her husband will be there tonight.

September 12, 2009 AM

Well, the first night of the 50th reunion appears to have been a rousing success. Of course that may only be my singular point of view, but lots of folks seem to have enjoyed reconnecting with old friends. Night 2 begins at 6PM.

Gail Phillips reminded me that she had sent her full life bio to me sometime back which I promptly lost. It has now been properly retrieved and has replaced her short form bio that had been posted.

September 11, 2009 AM

This is it. The reunion has begun.

There have been a few bios added in the past day or so. The entries include the date the bio was added to the list so you should be able to find all that have been added in September.

September 9, 2009 AM

We have added two new pictures to the Then and Now section, Tim Anderson and Bruce Schernig. Tim also provided a very interesting look into his life over the past 50 years. Check them out.

September 4, 2009 PM

Ron MacKenzie’s wife has sent me a letter along with his obituary and a picture of him with his three sons. This has all been posted to his memorial page. Please take a look.

September 1, 2009 AM

Surprise of the Century. I asked Julie Hersey about Connie Miller and Tammy(Temmy) Siegal and she gave me a contact for Connie. I spoke with Connie last night and she is excited about being asked to the reunion. She has all the info and will let me know real soon if she plans to make it. Her contact information has been added to the Class List.

August 30, 2009 AM

Be sure to check out the Who’s Coming list for any new additions. Today we have a long lost classmate, Julie Hersey Chapman. She and her husband Bill will attend both Friday and Saturday night. Welcome back.

August 29, 2009 PM

With the possible exception of a straggler or two who might contact me in the next two weeks, the books are closed. Here is the tally:

·                     Friday             118 for the VFW

·                     Saturday        161 for the Dolphin which includes 153 classmate and their guests and 4

                                    teachers with their guests.

·                     Sunday           104 for the High School Brunch

Total classmate responses = 176 with 97 attending and 79 saying no thanks.

We also have a bio from Ann Stewart Cragg. This is probably the last to be received.

All bios are printable from the web site. We will not be printing a booklet for distribution. You’re on your own.

Class picture – we will have a photographer there to take a class picture. He is the same one we have had for the 40th and 45th. The price will be the same, $10 each. Have your money ready.

Saturday Program

·                     6:00PM Cocktail Time

·                     6:45PM Welcome/Opening Remarks – Dick Anderson

·                     6:50PM US Marine Memorial Service for Allen Loane – Russ Barber

·                     7:00PM Presentation to our Guest Teachers – Al Ross, Dick Anderson and Dick Wells

·                     7:15PM Class Picture

·                     7:30PM Buffet

·                     11:00PM Go Home, Please

Music will be provided by a Bose L1 Compact System playing nothing but 50’s music, softly. We can turn it up if anyone wants to dance, particularly if they get up on a table.

August 27, 2009 PM

Lorrie Seller’s picture has been posted to the Then and Now section.

The clock is ticking. Lorrie Seller Anderson is all set for Saturday night. I am still expecting a few more checks this week. After I get the mail on Saturday, I will have a “final” count. I know I said the drop dead date was yesterday, the 26th, but I lied. We will take your money, even after the reunion.

While John Stevens will not be able to make it to the reunion, we did manage to get a current picture from him. Take a look in the Then and Now section, page 5.

August 25, 2009 PM

Normally I have not been announcing when people get added to the Who’s Coming list, but I am making an exception today for reasons that I don’t have to share.

We have added 3 names to the list today, Dick Wells, finally, Phil Gilchrest and Karen Alger Moore Butler. Karen is still a maybe, but she is paying for a ticket anyway so she gets on the list. Will I get more checks in tomorrow’s mail? I’ll let you know.

August 21, 2009 AM

Finally, we have the Now picture of San Buswell Carlucci. Of all the committee members, that leaves just Jean Tessier Stanton. Wouldn’t you have thought that the last classmates to withhold their Now picture would have been members of the Reunion Committee? Exactly.

August 19, 2009 PM

You should check the Who’s Coming list periodically. The latecomers are starting to come out of the woodwork.

August 18, 2009 AM

DiAnn Uhlin has sent in her Now picture. It is posted in the Then and Now section. That brings the count to 96 Classmates.

August 16, 2009 AM

Two things today. Ann Phinney has given me an update for her bio(she really did go to college) and a current picture. She has made her appearance in the highly sought after position in the Then and Now section. Check it out.

August 11, 2009 AM

I have updated the Class List with a new email address for Phil Gilchrest.

More people have been added to the Who’s Coming list. I still expect another 10 or so which will bring the classmate total to about 96. A very good showing, but I was hoping for more.

August 10, 2009 AM

We have a new Now picture from Barbara Simons. Check Page 5.

August 3, 2009 PM

The night is young and I have already received two pictures from my latest crowbar attempt. Mary Daly Spaulding and Harold Wright have sent in their photos which are now posted.

Kevin Keane is the latest to send in his picture. Check Page 3.

August 2, 2009 AM

Dianne Montgomery’s picture has been posted in the Then and Now section.

August 1, 2009 AM

The bio count is now at 87 with a total of 24 added in July and one just added this morning, Al Byrnes.

Attendance numbers break down as follows:

Friday = 101, Saturday = 129, Sunday = 91

This represents a total of 79 classmates plus guests.

In addition, we have another 33 who are highly probable, but haven’t sent in their check yet.

Sadly, we have had 67 classmates send in their regrets for a variety of reasons. That leaves 41 classmates who just don’t respond to any kind of attempt at communication. Maybe it’s me.

July 25, 2009 AM

Ken Poole has provided a very long and large bio. It takes awhile to load, but it is a very interesting read. Take the time. Near the end he makes reference to “this is his story and he’s sticking to it” as if there may be small or large amounts of embellishments. He also suggests that I may have done the same. Well, we’ll just have to keep you all wondering.

July 23, 2009 PM

I just spoke with Bob Franciose. He will not be able to make the reunion, but he did tell me that his email address has changed. No need to send him anything just yet as he only has email when he is not at the Cape. I will update the class list shortly.

July 21, 2009 PM

By now you must all know that I do not like bringing you bad news. While we have been on a last push to check with people as to their reunion intentions, Nancy Sullivan spoke with Ron Mackenzie’s wife and learned that he passed away this past January. I will have more on this as I collect some additional data.

July 18, 2009 AM

The bio count is now at 80.  We have added 17 so far this month with Hal Roey being the most recent.

July 17, 2009 PM

Here are the numbers as of today. 77 Classmates are coming, 53 have given their regrets. Total headcount for Friday night = 100, Saturday = 126 and Sunday = 88.

The reunion committee has had a meeting and names were assigned to contact those classmates who have still not given us a final decision. So the number is expected to be higher than those above, but how high is still not clear.

Overall, the numbers look pretty good and I expect we will have a great time.

Don’t forget to check the bios from time to time. More get added every day.

July 9, 2009 PM

I have added a 6th page to the Then and Now section for any teacher pictures that I get. Miss Hope is the first.

July 9, 2009 AM

We have invited 4 teachers from our past to join us on Saturday, the 12th of September. They are: Miss Hope, Mr. Shea, Mr. Filledes and Coach Fitzgerald. Miss Hope, now Patricia Edmonds, has sent a picture of herself and her husband. I have put this together as a Special Page.

July 2, 2009 AM

John Dowst has found new digs. His address has been changed in the class list. Phone and email stay the same.

July 1, 2009 PM

Eileen O’Connell’s picture is posted in the Then and Now section.

July 1, 2009 AM

Start browsing around the site. Kristine Kerr has provided her Now picture and I’m thisclose to having one from Eileen O’Connell. She provided me a picture of 6 women and told me to find her. I thought it was a no brainer, but this is not something I can be wrong about so I’ve asked her to confirm before I post. At least when Mary Pierce sent me a picture of herself and one other, she told me she was on the left. A goat was on the right.

Several new bios have shown up.

Hopefully today’s mail will bring several checks and maybe some bios.

July 1, 2009 AM

It seems that in my haste to get the completed biographies under password control, I omitted the page that contained the bio templates. These templates are for anyone who would like to reprint a template for hand writing or an electronic version for those who wish to submit a digital copy via email.

So now if you want to see the completed bios, go first to the Biographies page and then to the Completed Biographies.

June 30, 2009 PM

I know that some of you will remember Kathy Lynch from our Coolidge days. Linda Torti has informed me that Kathy passed away this past June 16. Her Obituary Page can be viewed here.

June 28, 2009 PM

It was just brought to my attention that the bios page is unprotected and does contain the names, addresses and phone numbers of classmates who have submitted their bios. In order to protect this sensitive information from general access, I have rerouted the Completed Bios to the Class List page which is still password protected. Sorry if this is an inconvenience, but I have to protect the data. If you have forgotten that password, you will have to send me an email and I’ll respond back promptly.

June 19, 2009 PM

I don’t have any intention of notifying you in this blog every time someone sends me a new bio, but I have been identifying when new Then and Now pictures are posted. Tonight we have Robert Roth’s current picture and Nancy Sullivan’s long bio.

June 18, 2009 PM

We have had 4 more bios added in the past couple of days, two of them of the “long” variety. Marci Burke Douglas and Robert Roth have provided a peek into their lives since 59. Take a look. Debra Greenburg also provided a pretty good work history as did Karen Kugell.

June 15, 2009 PM

We now have 51 bios posted. Most are short, but very interesting.

June 11, 2009 AM

There are 43 bios posted. I’m confident that there will be many more as the checks keep rolling in.

On the invitation side of the ledger, I have heard from 41 classmates with only 6 regrets. It is still early to expect many more than that. I did ask for returns by June 15th, but if I am nothing, I am pragmatic. Not many argue the nothing part, most argue the pragmatic part.

June 6, 2009 PM

Carol Coan has been added to the Then and Now section. Click on her picture to find her brood.

I have added 11 new biographies. The total number is still pretty small, but I expect more will come when people start sending me money for the reunion. All biographies are date stamped so you shouldn’t have any problem finding the new ones.

May 28, 2009 AM

I have updated the online Invitation to include a space for your name. The Invitations were mailed this past Tuesday, May 26th. If for some reason you do not receive one by next week, print out the form from the web site and send that in. Invitations were sent to everyone at the last known address on file. If you had more than one address on file, multiple invitations have been sent your way.

May 27, 2009 PM

I have added several new bios to the bios list.

Gail Phillips Bucher has a new email address. The class list has been updated.

The formal invitations were mailed out yesterday. One small issue. I did not provide a place for you to write your name. Please add it somewhere on the page.

May 21, 2009 PM

I have updated the main page to include a new section called The Coolidge Years. Click on Coolidge Memories and you should see a link to the Graduation picture and also some new Basketball pictures from Coach Fitzgerald.

If anyone has other photos from the Coolidge years that they would like to donate for the web site, send them along.

May 21, 2009 AM

Coming soon will be a page from our Coolidge years. Coach Fitzgerald has provided me with some very old pictures of the basketball team back in the 7th and 8th grades. Once I get them scanned in, I’ll find a place to put them. You won’t believe your eyes.

May 20, 2009 AM

It has been a long dry spell without any new Now pictures, but we finally got a new one from Christy Adams.

Several more people have sent in their biographies which have been posted.

May 19, 2009 AM

I have updated the Biographies page to better organize completed biographies. The Completed Biographies page is now a list of all classmates with columns to indicate short form or full and the date I added the form to the database.

May 18, 2009 PM

I am starting to receive some bios, both long and short form versions. So take a look at the Biographies page. I have added a Completed Biographies link that I will be filling up with bios as I receive them. I will alert you all when there are more added, but I expect to get many in the short term, so I will not be announcing the addition of each and every one.

May 17, 2009 PM

For anyone who wishes to provide a bio sheet using an MS Word version of the form, I have added that to the Biographies page.

May 16, 2009 PM

We have a new address for Barbara Simons Newcomb. The Class List has been updated.

May 14, 2009 AM

There have been two changes made to the Class List.  Mary Johnson Moore has provided a telephone number and Doris Henry Hinds has a new address, telephone number and email address. Please remember that this information is confidential and is for the use of our classmates only.

May 13, 2009 AM

The 50th Reunion Plans page has been reworked. It now shows an Activities Page, the Invitation, the Biographical Template and the original Status page.

The Biographical Template was mailed to you yesterday and the Invitation will follow right after Memorial Day. If you can’t wait, you can see all the material right here on the web site.

May 12, 2009 PM

We have mailed a Biographical Questionnaire today. You are being asked to consider providing something more than just the simple basics. If you would like to see this questionnaire before it arrives in the mail, click HERE.

May 11, 2009 AM

The reunion committee held it’s big and first meeting of 2009. The i’s have been dotted and the t’s crossed. You can read the particulars in the 50th Reunion Plans page.

Does anyone have a picture of Robert Thompson? Or can you point him out in the Coolidge 1955 Graduation picture?

April 30, 2009 PM

I have finally received some important memorial information concerning our Keith Gould. His In Memoriam section has been updated. I encourage you all to take a few moments and find out a little bit about his life.

April 30, 2009 AM

I have added a new page in the Reunions section called Biographies. If you have a chance, take a look at it. It contains a request for you to think about writing a bio for the reunion and it also contains a sample bio written by me. Have some fun.

April 25, 2009 AM

Boston Marathon 2009 - I know I missed the boat with Ray Kent last year,  but hopefully I can make it up this year. To the best of my knowledge(not much progress since 1959), Ray did not run, but Ken Poole did.

Now Ken is a really dedicated runner, marathoner and fitness guru. I have his stats for this past Boston Marathon and also a news article written up in the local paper about all the old codgers who think spending untold hours running in the street, getting in the way of our cars, in all kinds of weather, seems like a fun time.

Here are Ken’s Stats

Official Time = 3:55:46

Division Placement = 39th

Overall Placement = 14549

Gender Placement = 9722

April 21, 2009 AM

Russ Whittemore has provided some nice words about Allen Loane. Check them out in Allen’s In Memoriam page.

April 2, 2009 AM

Marci Burke Douglas has adopted a rather large family of cats. Well, more like one cat and a million kittens. Check them out by clicking on her picture in the Then and Now section. They are cute and you can still let them out without a leash.

Ah, dogs running wild and the smell of burning leaves are two major things from our younger years that I really miss. Yes, forget the unbridled passion of youth, the girls, the parties, the booze, the smell of burning leaves is the only thing I can remember.

March 31, 2009 PM

Every now and then, the postman brings something other than bills and junk mail. Today he brought me an envelope from Ocala, Florida which contained a picture of someone I had not seen since the summer of 1959. Join me in welcoming Jim Fallon to the Then and Now section.

March 21, 2009 AM

Everything is now in place with the three hotels in the Natick area. Take a look at the Hotel Reservation Information Page. The cutoff dates for booking a room are in the mid August timeframe, but don’t delay. Set your reminder calendar for July.

March 20, 2009 PM

Jean Holland Lent has sent her regrets that she will be unable to attend the reunion, but she did send in her Now picture which has been posted.

Jean also had some words to add to Leslie Davis Edwards memorial page

March 19, 2009 AM

We now have all the Hotel information for the Red Roof and the Crowne Plaza. Still waiting for the Internet link information from the Hampton Inn. For all our classmates who do not have access to the Internet, they will be notified via the invitation that will be sent out later this year. They will be able to book rooms manually by calling the hotel and asking for the Natick High School Class of 1959 rate for September 11th and 12th.

March 14, 2009 PM

We have new pictures from the 35th Reunion thanks to Mary Morrill Beaupre. I do have one small problem. I can’t recognize everyone in all the pictures. I have numbered each picture so that you can tell me who is who if you know.

March 11, 2009 PM

There is a new link showing up in the Reunions section. It is titled Hotel Reservation Information. Be patient. I am almost ready to post all the data necessary for you to be able to book rooms at the three named locations at discounted rates. I’ll send out an email when I have all the data posted.

March 7, 2009 PM

Alice Martin Roberts has provided me with a new email address. The class list has been updated.

February 28, 2009 AM

The very first meeting of the Milford Breakfast Club took place on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the well appointed McDonald’s on Route 140 in Milford. In attendance were Joanna Drowne King, Ron Therieau, Ken Poole, Dick Anderson and Al Ross. We had a great time chatting about the old days, at least the ones we could remember.

The morning event was highlighted by a visit from some Hooter waitresses and some Chippendale Dancers who happened to be in town for some kind of a function at one of the local hotels. There is a reasonable chance that they will appear at the next breakfast meeting as well. Just in case any of you invited folks who couldn’t make it to this meeting, may decide to make that extra effort the next time. We plan to meet on the fourth Saturday of each month, 8AM, at the same McDonalds.

February 24, 2009 PM

Russ Barber has obtained a ceremonial place setting to be used at the 50th Reunion in honor of our fallen Marine classmate, Allen Loane. While all the details of a short memorial service have yet to be worked out, Russ will be providing the tribute for Allen. You can view this place setting on Allen’s memorial page or click here.

February 20, 2009 AM

We have had a late arrival to the attendance query. Kathleen Owens Ramotowski has indicated she is planning on attending. I have updated the planned attendance list in the 50th Reunion Plans page.

February 18, 2009 AM

Dick Anderson has sent in some pictures of his grand children. They are posted in the Then and Now section behind his picture.

February 14, 2009 PM

After months of begging and pleading, Anna Thompson has finally relented and sent me several pictures. She is now in the Then and Now section with backup pictures from her youth, kids and all.

February 13, 2009 AM

My most recent plea/beg for more pictures worked very quickly. Bruce Peterson and Gail Phillips Bucher have provided me with some additional photos to post behind their Then and Now picture. They are available for viewing right now.

BTW, if anyone has a problem viewing anything on this website using IE, Firefox or Safari, please let me know immediately. Each browser works a little differently and I don’t always check all three.

February 11, 2009 AM

We have an update from Charlie LePage on the Golf Outing. Details are in the 50th Reunion Plans page. Click here.

February 2, 2009 AM

Dick Stanley has a new email address. The Class List has been updated.

Check out the Golf Plan document from Charlie LePage in the 50th Reunion Plans page.

January 27, 2009 PM

For all you web browsing fans, Dean Webb has sent me some current pictures from the golf course. Where else? You can see them by going to the Then and Now, find his picture and click away. There is a nice surprise for all you golf nuts.

January 25, 2009 PM

From time to time, classmates inform me of updated addresses and phone numbers. I update the class list, but don’t always announce that I have done so. So please check the list if you are planning to contact someone new. The most recent change was for Russ Barber.

I also want to announce that Chris Adams has recently promised me a picture to post in the Then and Now section. I have received several promises in the past which have not been honored, no surprise here. For those of you who are delinquent, now is the time to make things right. I’m sure you were all brought up with the understanding that your word was your bond. You probably didn’t fully understand that message then and some of you are still struggling with it now. I am a very patient man.

January 18, 2009 PM

Russ Barber’s efforts to get information about Allen Loane have paid off. He sent me a picture of Allen and his fellow officers when he was in Officer Basic School at Quantico. You can see the picture in Allen’s Memorial Page.

January 17, 2009 AM

Today, the MetroWest Daily News announced the passing of one of our teachers, Anthony DeFelice. I have included his obituary here.

For those of you who notice that the Class List has been updated as of January 16th, the two changes are for email addresses for Joanna Drowne King and Lorraine Mitchell Gemelli.

January 16, 2009 PM

I have added a new page to the web site. You can find it in the Reunion Section in the 50th Reunion Plans page. It is a list of everyone who has indicated that they plan to attend the various activities planned for the 50th Reunion in September.

January 9, 2009

Russ Barber posted a request on a Marine web site asking for anyone who might have known Allen Loane in Vietnam to contact him. He got a response from a Buddy Moorehead which has been posted in Allen’s Memorial page. Take a look.

December 29, 2008 AM

Once again I must bring you sad news. Peter Horning passed away yesterday in Milford, Massachusetts. His obituary has been posted in the In Memoriam section. While Peter lived just a few miles from me for the past 36 years, we never crossed paths. I do remember that he came to see me at Fort Dix during Basic Training. He was there doing his National Guard tour and I had just been given a buzz cut. Ah, those were the days.

December 18, 2008 AM

Lois Cohen has provided a new email address. Check the class list.

I have heard from 154 classmates on the reunion. The latest number for Saturday night is 212. This is going to be fun. All those old memories will come flooding back. Some good, some bad. I hope that most will have some memory of the high school years. No names mentioned here, but one of the committee members remembers Coolidge and that’s it. I wonder what traumatic event happened to break the neuron links.

November 22, 2008 AM

Just a couple or three quick updates.

We have a new Florida address for Suzanne Winner Jarrie. The Class List has been updated. If you cannot get into the Class List, send me an email and I will give you the password again. Please remember that the User Name is case sensitive and is Class_list.

I just had a few time slots open up so you can send me your Now picture and I will place it on the web site in a very special privileged spot. No one else is allowed to have this spot. Time is running out and I don’t want you to miss this opportunity for immortality. You may be a winner.

I am pretty sure that we have heard from everyone who plans to come to the reunion. The numbers are quite impressive. As of today we have 150 responses with 210 folks planning on Saturday night. Fewer for Friday and Sunday, but if everyone makes good on their intentions, this will be a huge reunion, as it should be.

November 11, 2008 AM

The plans for the reunion have taken shape. Please see the 50th Reunion Plans page for an update.

November 7, 2008 AM

Fred Munro has provided me with a new mailing address. Class List has been updated.

November 3, 2008 PM

Well, breaking the Then and Now page into 5 smaller pages wasn’t as time consuming as I thought. This should make it easier and faster to load the pictures. Let me know if there are any problems.

The Then and Now page has gotten just a little too big to maintain as a single page. I am in the process of breaking it up into several pages to make it easier to get it all downloaded quickly. Bear with me while I create another masterpiece.

Marci Burke Douglas has sent in her current picture. She is number 80. The Then and Now has been updated.

November 1, 2008 PM

The numbers as of today are as follows:

·         Total responses = 118

·         Total regrets = 25

·         Friday = 110

·         Saturday = 149

·         Sunday = 103

A very good start to this whole project. Many thanks to everyone who helped put this together and to all those who have responded.

I know there are many more who always come to the reunion who have not yet sent in their post card, so the numbers will be higher.

I hope that everyone who indicated that they intend to be at the reunion can actually make it.

November 1, 2008 AM

Harold Wright has retired and moved out of Illinois. His new phone number and address have been posted to the Class List. Email stays the same.

I will post the results of the mailing campaign later today after the mailman has made his rounds.

October 25, 2008 AM

The response to our mailing asking for your intentions to attend next year’s reunion has been pretty good. I have received 76 post cards to date, only 16 with regrets. We sent out 219 letters so I am still expecting more responses this coming week.

I have posted the letter that was sent, in the 50th Reunion page.

October 21, 2008 PM

Jerry Hall has an email address. Check the Class List.

Mary Morrill Beaupre has an email address. Check the Class List.

October 20, 2008 AM

Marcia Burke Douglas has provided a new mailing address and phone number. Her email is unchanged. Check the Class List.

October 18, 2008 AM

The mailing has gone to the post office. Please return the post card AFTER you read the back and fill in some information.

I have updated the Class List to reflect a new address for Jerry Hall and to put back Mardell Pease’s name and address. For some reason it wasn’t there.

Jim Linton has a new email address. Check the Class List.

October 15, 2008 AM

That mailing mentioned below is almost ready to pop in the mail. Look for something early next week.

I haven’t received any pictures for some time now. Maybe the upcoming Holidays will loosen those inhibitions.

October 7, 2008 AM

For all you faithful readers of this blog, you are getting some advance notice that the reunion committee is very close to having a working plan in place and we will be sending everyone a request for a non-committal answer as to whether or not you plan to attend the 50th reunion the weekend of September 11, 12 and 13 , 2009. We need to know if the location we are working with will be big enough. Please respond to our request. There will be a stamped Post Card for you to simply indicate how many will be attending. This will not be a hard commitment on your part, but will assist us in our planning.

We are working on a three day event, Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday Brunch. You can attend any or all. Cost is still being worked. Trust us.

October 3, 2008 PM

I received today some pictures from Russ Barber. He has been posted in the Then and Now section and there are also many pictures that are linked to his picture. Please take a few moments and review what he has provided. Regardless of your position on war or any President, one must look up to men such as Russ. He has served us well. We all too soon forget what it has taken to provide us all that we have.

September 30, 2008 AM

The reunion committee met for the first time last night. It is much too early to provide you any details except to let you know that we are working on a plan that will cover three separate events. One for Friday night, one for Saturday night and one for Sunday Brunch. You will be able to attend them all, any or none. Target dates are either the weekend of September 11, 12 and 13 or 18, 19 and 20, 2009. Our job is to put together an interesting event opportunity, your job is the make the plans to get here.

September 28, 2008 AM

John Dowst brought to my attention, an article in the MetroWest Daily News written by Lenny Megliola about Vito Capizzo. You can either read it online at the paper’s website or here.

September 23, 2008 AM

Once again I must bring you sad news. Diane Hesek passed away yesterday in Tucson, Arizona. Her obituary has been posted in the In Memoriam section.

September 22, 2008 PM

Carol Bellofatto LePage has a new email address. The Class List has been updated.

September 21, 2008 PM

All the Sassamons from our first three years at Natick have been scoured for your young, unrecognizable mugs. I think I have found and identified everyone. So this project is now closed. Not surprisingly, the 1958 book had the most and the 1956 had the least. Please give the files time to download

The first meeting of the reunion committee is scheduled for September 29th. I will provide an update in this section following that meeting.

September 20, 2008 PM

Please note that Janice Bitzer Cronin has a new email address. The Class List has been updated.

September 17, 2008 AM

The 1957 Sassamon is finished. Every page that contains someone from the Class of 1959 has been scanned and loaded. I will get to the last Sassamon, 1958, in the not too distant future.

September 16, 2008 PM

Well, I am almost done with the Class of 1957 Sassamon. In one of the pages from 1957, the Student Council, there are 3 girls from that class who all went on to become Miss Natick. They would be Sue Fisher, Pat Condlin and Dorris Ward. Not bad from just one class, but the Class of 1959 trumped them all when Mary Morrill was crowned in 1959.

September 14, 2008 PM

I have finished scanning in pages from the 1956 Sassamon. I boxed anyone from our class that showed up in the pictures. I’m sure you all will let me know if I missed anyone. It was interesting to find some folks who were with us at Coolidge and also as Freshmen and then disappeared. If anyone knows the whereabouts of any of these folks, please let me know.

September 13, 2008 AM

I have finally found some time to start scanning some pictures from the 1956, 1957 and 1958 Sassamon Yearbooks. I’m sure that many of you have never seen these photos before. I will get more pictures posted soon, but not today. The interesting thing about the 1956 pictures it that they show some classmates that left us for other schools and we have all but forgotten them, until now. How many people remember Tammy Seigal, Julie Hersey and Ray Hardy? And I’m sure I will find a few more. I remember Ray Hardy being asked by his 8th grade teacher if there were any benefits to the Atomic bomb. His answer was that it controlled population.

If anyone has pictures from our high school days that they would like to share, send them my way.

September 10, 2008 AM

I am experimenting with a new format for the web page. Doing all this without any special, costly software presents some challenges. Please be patient.

August 27, 2008 PM

One more picture for the Then and Now. Aldo Pagliarulo has made the wall.

We’re doing pretty good, but I set my expectations rather high and I am still hopeful that more of you older folks will embrace this effort and let us all see how gracefully you have survived the ravages of time. I’ve said this before, everyone who really means anything to you already knows what you look like and you have looked like you look for quite some time now. I mean, come on. I now look like my father and I said that would NEVER happen. I still don’t know HOW it happened. My wife reminds me about all the ice cream, beer, wine and food, but those are just staples, right?

August 23, 2008 AM

Two new additions to the Then and Now section. Charlene sent me a picture of the girls on a little vaca down the Cape and Donna Pryor and Jean Ghilani gave me the OK to use their pictures. So take a look.

On another note, I have notified Bose that I will not take the next assignment which could have taken me at least to the end of this year. Instead, I will only finish the current assignment. I will find out on Monday when my last day will be, maybe Monday. So I should have plenty of time to “encourage” all of you who have not complied with the request for a picture.

The reunion committee is really, really going to meet near the end of September and start putting together a plan.

August 10, 2008

Having lived in the same house for 37 years sometimes yields strange artifacts. Here is a mug that must have been given out at the 35th reunion. Does anyone have any other pieces of memorabilia hanging around the house?

And I also realized that I had my Basketball jacket in the closet. I tried it on and it was a little tight. Getting the other arm in was totally impossible.

August 2, 2008 PM

Well, I really thought I was going to rejoin the ranks of the happily retire folks at the end of August. Seems like I have an opportunity to stay on at Bose until at least the end of the year. After many years of having high pressure jobs, what I am doing now is just fun. I never take the job out of the door at night. So I will continue knowing that if anything changes I can just say “goodbye, today will be my last day”.

By the way, the Sassamon is all cleaned up. If anyone finds a problem, please let me know. And don’t forget to let me know if there are any significant typos still left to be fixed. I caught some, was notified of one and I’m sure there are many still in there.

July 26, 2008 PM

The Sassamon scanning project is complete. Some of the earlier pages are a little dingy and I will get around to cleaning them up, but for the time being, you gets what you gets. Each section can be saved as its own pdf file. If you don’t understand what that means, ask your kids.

July 23, 2008 PM

The obituary for Richard Cox was posted today in the Cape Cod Times. I have placed it in his memorial page and shown below here as well. I will email the entire class with this information, at least those with emails.

WEST BARNSTABLE — Richard Arthur Cox, of West Barnstable, died on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at home, with his family nearby.

Born in Cambridge, he spent his formative years in Natick. He attended Bates College and graduated from Northeastern University. He served in the Marine Corps Reserves and was clerk of the Cape Cod YMCA for 15 years. His business career was helping others with their financial and retirement planning. He provided service on Cape Cod for more than 30 years. He enjoyed kayaking, traveling, movies, and spending time with his family and friends.

His proudest achievement was in rearing his three sons, each becoming a solid citizen with fine values and high standards. Each has a loving family of his own.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan; their sons, Jeffrey, David and his wife, Kelly, and Matthew and his wife, Andrea; and his sister, Joan and her husband, Bob, of Melrose. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Nicholas Morgan and Kyle Cox of Delaware, Kathryn and Julia Cox of Winchester, and Johnathan and Daniel Cox of New Hampshire.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 27, at 2 p.m., at West Parish Congregational Church, Meetinghouse Road (Route 149), West Barnstable. Burial services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society or to the charity of your choice. In keeping with his love of his "Breakfast Club," it would be appropriate to meet a friend at breakfast and keep Dick's spirit alive by exchanging the phrase "Nevah bettah."

He is at peace.

July 21, 2008 PM

Anyone looking in the Cape Cod Times yesterday may have seen a small mention about Richard Cox. It was listed in the Funeral Notices, not the Obituaries. I have pasted it here.

COX — Richard A., of West Barnstable, died July 15, 2008. Husband of Susan (Armstrong) Cox. Memorial service 2 p.m. July 27, West Parish of Barnstable, Route 149, West Barnstable. Private burial.

I am always willing to take my lumps when I use the wrong word or misspell one. One might think I take quite a few lumps. Today was one of those days. Someone pointed out my mistake shown below highlighted in yellow. Scared does not mean the same as sacred.

July 19, 2008 PM

It is with a great deal of sadness that I must inform you of the passing of Richard Cox. Dick died this past Tuesday. Details concerning any memorial service will be forthcoming in the Cape Cod Times sometime within the next several days. I will post any information I get right here.

July 15, 2008 PM

While I was at work today, Ken Poole delivered a very nice present to my house. He had taken the time and trouble to put together all the photo information that you will now find on the Then and Now section. All I had to do was a little typing. Many thanks to Ken. Check out his pictures and remember to click on his Then and Now picture to see the rest.

I also received today an email from Peter Ranney alerting me to some typos in the Sassamon which I will fix soon. Everyone should check and make sure that no mistakes have been made on their behalf. I will edit text, but don’t ask me to fix any pictures. I know it is sometimes hard to take, but we did look like that then.

July 14, 2008 PM

I am down to just the Senior Week section of the Sassamon left to scan  and post. I do plan to go back and clean up a few pages and will fix anything wrong that you all tell me about. I have already fixed two cases where H. Jones was labeled as D. Webb and then H. James. Let me know if there are any other errors.

July 12, 2008 AM

The weather is just too nice to be scanning the Sassamon this weekend. I’m getting close to being done. A little more in the Athletic area and then Senior Week Activities. Everything else is done. Many thanks to all who volunteered to help scan in this most sacred of documents.

July 5, 2008 PM

The Sassamon file was getting way too big, so I broke it up into smaller sections. The first three sections are complete. If you have any difficulty viewing the information, drop me a note or call my cell. The Senior’s file is pretty big and it takes a while to load, so be patient. I have tested the site with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. All seems fine.

July 4, 2008 AM

I met up with Ronnie Graham at the Natick Parade as we have done for the past several years. I took his picture which he has agreed to let me post in the Then and Now section and I took one of him in the Parade driving his Corvette

June 28, 2008 PM

Back on May 22nd I asked for volunteers to digitize the Sassamon. I let all the responses accumulate for the past month and then decided who I could tap for this very important task. Well, I tell ya, it was a difficult decision. NO ONE VOLUNTEERED.

So I started to do this myself. On the main page there is a new entry called 1959 Sassamon . That line is linked to an Adobe file called Sassamon 1959. Once you get to that page, you can save the file to your computer. If you have any difficulties, do one of two things. Drop me a note or dump your Mac and buy a Dell.

I haven’t finished the entire book yet, so be patient.

June 21, 2008 PM

It has been an interesting week in Natick. For those of you who live, like west of Worcester, you probably didn’t hear about the fire on Pond Street. One small block of stores have been completely destroyed. The only store I can remember being in this block was Christy’s Tailor Shop. Many things came and went during the 40’s and 50’s, but I just can’t remember them. Click here for some pictures compliments of my son, John, who lives in Natick.

June 9, 2008 PM

Please join me in welcoming Ray Stackpole to our Then and Now section. He is number 78.

June 2, 2008 PM

And the fun never stops. Ron Savilonis’s wife has provided Ron’s picture.

If your favorite classmate has not yet sent in their photo, help me out and convince them to do so.

June 1, 2008 PM

Just posted Jim Andrews. Keep them coming. We’re going to be too old at the reunion for visual shock. Best we do this in dribs and drabs.

We have yet another addition to the Then and Now section. Alice Martin has joined the ranks. We know have 75 classmates on board.

May 30, 2008 PM

We are on a roll. Ann Stewart has sent me her picture. Up and posted. How many more will follow?

Many thanks to everyone who has either had the courage to send in their picture or who has finally succumbed to the pressure. I don’t think for a minute that anyone felt any pressure.

May 26, 2008 PM

Charlene Pinkham’s Then and Now picture has been posted. Let’s keep them coming.

Bruce Peterson has a new email address. The Class List has been updated.

May 24, 2008 PM

The response to my latest email asking for pictures yielded pretty swift results. Ron Oldfield has provided a picture and it has been posted. Donna Pryor and Ann Stewart have both promised to send me a photo. This is huge.

May 22, 2008 PM

It has been awhile since I updated this blog. I was hoping to be able to report that the  reunion committee had held an organizing meeting, but no such luck. I think we were this close. Maybe San is still running on Hawaii time.

I will tell you that there has been some thought to putting together a brief polling document to get some input for the reunion. The very nature of asking 250+ classmates for their likes and dislikes is that we could get 250+ different suggestions. So keep that in mind when and if we do some asking and then some deciding. I have some personal guidelines that I can share with you right now. Here are some possibly crazy thoughts:

·         September 2009, after Labor day, maybe Sept 18, 19, 20, 2009

·         Digitize the Sassamon. Many people have lost the book through many moves and wild parties. Anyone care to take on this task?

·         Request a mini bio from everyone, not a resume, just a brief summary, kids, grandkids, moves.

·         Ferret out any classmate who has achieved extraordinary accomplishments

·         Special honor for all deceased classmates

·         Reunion Theme – We are not in High School Anymore.

·         Social event with food and drinks, focus on the social and the drinks, not the food.

·         Plan for mobility, Get a chance to talk with as many people as possible. My little project of finding everyone had me talking with people I probably never spoke with in school. The experience was overwhelming.

·         Golf, Tennis

·         Pictures

o   I want to have someone on hand to walk around and take pictures of everyone. No classmate will have to do that although they can.

o   Take photos of various groups in the same position they were in the Sassamon

·         Cheerleaders

·         Sports Teams

·         Safety Patrol

·         Lunch Wardens

·         Etc.

May 1, 2008 PM

While I did not manage to connect with Ray during the race, he did provide this summary in an email to me and others yesterday.

Ruth and I ran and finished the Boston Marathon together with a time of  4:42.  This was one-half hour slower than my qualifying time and a full hour slower than Ruth's (she slowed up for dear ol' dad on this one).  This was our fourth time across a marathon finish line together. That's really special.   Even though we didn't win, I considered it my best run ever.  We had near perfect weather, a great course, twenty-five thousand of our closest friends nearby and incredible crowds along the entire 26.2 mile route. We could have had a better time if it weren't for two potty breaks (one each) and we stopped at every mile marker for a photo-op.

Kathy made up a T-Shirt with my name on it and that I graduated from Natick High in '59.  The crowds picked up on it and cheered us wildly through the neighboring towns.  The noise level was so loud that many runners ran by Wellesley and Boston Colleges with their ears covered.  I didn't have a problem with that but my hands were feeling a bit tender with all the high-fives we got as we ran.

It was an awesome course and very well organized. I would love to run it again but I'm afraid I'd have a tough time qualifying again.  I plan to leave it as an opportunity for other first-timers and younger runners. If you get the opportunity to run Boston, don't hesitate,  go for it.  It was truly a "once in a lifetime" opportunity for me and I am thrilled that I ran it.

Thanks for all the direct and indirect support and fellowship that helped me qualify for a truly memorable goal of running in the Boston Marathon.

Kindest regards,

Ray Kent

April 30, 2008 PM

I stopped by the Edwards Funeral home tonight to say goodbye to Mr. Keenan. A great man has left us this week. I did mention to his wife and Owen the Third that I was expecting him to be in a bow tie. They had considered that, but it was too difficult to tie.

While I was waiting in line, who should show up right behind me but the great Coach Jerry Fitzgerald. He and Owen were very good friends.

I have updated the link below to give you the obituary that was posted on the Edwards web site. It has a fairly recent picture of him.

April 29, 2008 PM

It is a sad day whenever we lose a classmate. I think the same can be said for our teachers. Most of us should remember, from Coolidge, a Mr. Keenan. While I never had him as a teacher, I always remember how calm he always seemed to be. Even when we would see him selling shoes at Jordan Marsh. And now I find out that he was a member of The Greatest Generation having served during WWII. We never give those guys and gals enough credit for what they sacrificed. How many of you saw the opening of Saving Private Ryan and were not moved to tears. They lived that. That must have been mind numbing. Do you notice how many are willing to talk about those days? Not many.

If you wish to say some words about Mr. Keenan, send me an email and I will post it here.

April 21, 2008 PM

The Boston Marathon was held on an absolutely beautiful day. However, watching the runners and trying to focus on anyone in particular, is an exhausting task. I saw Ray Kent when he was about 10 yards past me heading away. So no picture. Maybe he will be able to provide one for me. I’m sure that Ray had other things on his mind as well. Maybe next time.

Irwin Fischer stopped by my viewing location. I have posted his picture both in the Then and Now section as well as the Marathon section.

I did manage to get a few shots to prove that I was there although I could be posting pictures from any other marathon and you probably couldn’t tell the difference. Click HERE to see the pictures.

April 16, 2008 PM

The Marathon is next Monday. If you haven’t been reading your email, Ray Kent will be running. I will be standing, taking pictures in Lincoln Square. Hope to see a few folks there.

Bobbi Rogers Goodall has a new address and phone number. The Class List has been updated.

April 12, 2008 PM

Ron Therieau has a new email address. Check it out in the Class List.

April 9, 2008 PM

Jan Murphy Swaine has joined the group. There is plenty of room for everyone. Make me work. Send photos.

April 6, 2008 PM

It seems that I forgot how to count. With the addition of Jim Bradford, we now have 68 people listed in the Then and Now section.

If you are in touch with any classmate who has not yet sent in their picture, give them a call and find a way to encourage them to participate.

April 5, 2008 AM

Jim Bradford has sent in his Now picture. It has been posted.

Many thanks to all those who have taken the time and trouble to send me their picture. I think everyone will agree, it has been a joy to reconnect with folks and to see them in today’s light.

March 18, 2008 PM

Virginia Pierro has joined our Then and Now group. Number 68.

March 11, 2008 PM

I think this is the longest I’ve gone in a long time of not posting anything on the site. I have been working, but more importantly, no one has sent me any pictures to post until today. Irene Grady is now a member of the elite, bringing our number to 67.

Irene also provided me with a Then picture of Alden Nelson who was missing from the yearbook. I have not had any luck making contact with him. Has anyone else talked to him since high school? Maybe you could contact him and get some information, like an email address if available. His address and phone number are in the class list.

February 26, 2008 PM

Tim Anderson has been contacted. His email is below.

Hello Allan,

This is to confirm my email address(tim_anderson_2001@yahoo.com) and to say "hi" to you and all our classmates. I am now editing agricultural reports for a Cambodian research organization under contract to the local government. (Don't ask how I got roped into that one)

I will certainly be at the reunion in 2009. I would have been at the 45th reunion but I was in the hospital in Saigon after emergency abdominal surgery (they did a good job). I hope all is well with you and yours and will see you in September 2009!

   Cheers,

     Tim

February 25, 2008 PM

One more picture has been added to Then and Now, Carol Savilonis. She brings the number of classmates with a steely reserve to 66. Much better than I first thought, but not as high as I hope we get.

The new job is going well, thanks for asking. I was retired for 10 months and have been back in the fray for 3 weeks. It feels like I never left. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. We can agree that it’s a thing. It only proves that you can never be to rich or to thin. My problem is that I’m neither.

February 20, 2008 PM

Can it be? I haven’t done anything on this web site for a week? Well, it’s been a combination of being busy doing other things and no one sending me any pictures.

We have had a breakthrough.  Alice Ward Macumber sent in her picture along with one of Dick Wells. They have been posted.

February 13, 2008 PM

In order to more easily identify those pictures in the Then and Now section that are linked to another page, I have added a yellow bar to the right of those pictures.  That should make it quicker for you to find those brave souls who are willing to expose their aging process for all to see.

February 11, 2008 PM

Pete Ranney sent me a bunch of pictures from his wedding in 1963 into the 90’s.

Now if we can get a grassroots campaign going, we might get more folks to cough up some family pictures. No begging on my part, I have enough to do these days, but remember that I lie.

February 10, 2008 PM

I have moved the pictures of Peter Ranney and Ron Therieau to link from their Then and Now picture. That’s all I have so far. I’m sure I will now be flooded with pictures from everyone’s scrapbooks. Come on folks, it won’t take much time and it will be very interesting for everyone.

February 10, 2008 AM

I have decided to abandon the Our Journey Through Time page for something that I think will work a little better. I will create a separate page for each classmate that will be linked to their picture in the Then and Now section. That way, you will be able to see each person without having to find them on several pages from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. The bad news, as I have already been told, it that you will see people age from 18 to 66 on a single page. As an example, mine has already been done.

February 7, 208 PM

There have been just a couple of updates in the past few days.  Dick Anderson has provided his Now picture and Ron Therieau provided a picture of the blizzard of 78 for the 1970 Journey section.

February 3, 2008 AM

Fred Munro has provided his email address which has been updated in the class list. If you have forgotten the password, email me and I’ll provide it.

February 2, 2008 AM

The Class List has been updated to show a new email address for Dennis Lawless and Helen McLaughlin.

Peter Ranney sent me a picture from New Year’s Eve, 1963. It shows the Brown brothers, Ron Therieau, Ron’s wife and Peter’s wife. I didn’t immediately know what to do with this photo, but then it hit me. I would create a new page called “Our Journey Through Time” and then have sub-pages called “The 60’s”, “The 70’s”, etc. So all you need to do is send me a photo, identify the year and who is in the picture and off we go. Let’s see if the response to this exceeds the overwhelming response to the Then and Now section pictures. The idea here is to get at least one picture of each person for each decade. Maybe two pictures, but no more.

By the way, I have heard from some other classes and they all think this web site is great. Help me make it better. Send me some pictures.

The rules are very simple for the picture sender:

·         What is your name?

·         Who is in the picture?

·         What year was the picture taken?

·         Where was the picture taken?

February 1, 2008 AM

As of yesterday, it looks like I will be going back to work. I have an opportunity to work on a project at Bose in Framingham. The project could last anywhere from 3 months to 2 years. After I reviewed the work they need done and the time frames, I think at least one year is reasonable. So the web site will be getting less attention that it has been getting, but I will post new information and pictures as quickly as I can.

Still no communication from Tim Anderson. Maybe he doesn’t get around to checking his email very often.

January 30, 2008 PM

I spent a few hours at the high school today looking through all the film and photo archives they have. The good news is that they let me in the building. The bad news is that archiving apparently was never part of the curriculum. And to make matters worse, there was a fire in that area back in 1966 which really put a strain on material from the 50’s. Bottom line, I didn’t come away with anything.

While I was away working on that, I received an email from Bruce Peterson who suggested a few a changes to the web site. The one that I have agreed to at the moment is to add married names to the Then and Now pictures. For some reason there is hope that this might encourage more classmates to send in their Now picture. So I am in the process of adding additional information to some pictures and you may find the page a little screwed up from time to time. Be patient.

January 29, 2008 AM

I have taken the liberty of updating the Class List with Tim Anderson’s email address without hearing from him first.

I have also made contact with Judy Davis and have updated the Class List with her contact information as well.

Marie Raftrey’s picture has been posted to Then and Now

January 28, 2008 PM

Tim Anderson’s brother, Phil, sent him an email yesterday and copied me. I followed that up with an email of my own. Still no word from Tim. I have no idea how quickly he gets or responds to his email in Cambodia, but I’m sure he will respond eventually.

Larry McCarthy has sent in his current photo, It has been scanned and posted in the Then and Now section.

January 27, 2008 PM

Out of the blue I started searching for Tim Anderson again. After what seems like almost no effort at all I am talking with his step mother and then his brother Phil. I expect to have Tim’s contact information very soon. I did find out that he spends the winters in Cambodia and his summers right here in Massachusetts. I’ll let you all know when I have more detailed data on him.

January 25, 2008 AM

One new picture has been added to Then and Now, Ruthann Meagher.

January 24, 2008 PM

We have a new email address. Virginia Pierro Minnucci is online (see Class List)  The class list has been updated.

January 22, 2008 Tuesday AM

Two new pictures have been posted, Beverly Clark and Joe Fahey.

January 17. 2008 Thursday AM

Carol Savilonis Bartholomew has provided us with a new email address, (see Class List)   The class list has been updated.

January 16, 2008 Wednesday PM

John Stevens has notified me that his email has changed to (see Class List) The class list has been updated.

January 10, 2008 Thursday PM

Some days you never know what you will find just around the corner. I got an email from our very own John Dowst who has been doing a little digging in the Internet, helping to locate the few remaining lost classmates. After I had given up all hope of finding Patty Harcourt, John finds two listing in Maine for a P. Frost, her married name. One was in Kennebunk, which is very close to her last known address. I called the number and the one and only Patricia Ann Harcourt Frost answered the phone. I have her address, phone number, email address and she has a web site. The first three are listed in the class list. Her web site is www.patriciafrostdesigns.com

January 8, 2008 Tuesday PM

Judy Davis – the lost sister has been found. While Diane Campisi came very close to getting me all the necessary information, Lois Cohen came through with the final clincher. Judy’s married name is Selleck and she lives in East Falmouth. I have her address and phone number, but I have not yet been in contact with her. Once I speak with her I hope to have an email address and then it will all be published.

The missing list continues to get smaller.

January 7, 2008 Monday PM

Once we established that Robert Robinson attended Dartmouth, it was a relatively small step to finding him. While I was sending a letter to him through the Alumni office, John Dowst was working the keyboard. John found a Robert W. Robinson teaching at the University of Georgia.

So what did it take to pull this miracle off? Janice Bitzer provided his middle initial (W) from the graduation pamphlet, Nancy Hunt provided his college and John used that information to find a Robinson at the UGA.

So I called this Dr. Robinson and told him who I was and why I was calling. He is our guy. His picture is posted and so is his contact information. With a little bit of prodding, he may be able to get away from classes long enough to attend the 50th.

That is now four people retrieved from the dark side.

January 4, 2008 Friday AM

Robert Robinson – I spoke with Nancy Hunt yesterday and she informed me that Robert went to Dartmouth. I have contacted their alumni department and they will forward a letter to a Robert W. Robinson who graduated from there in 1963. Maybe it is our Robert W. Robinson. The letter is on its way.

Lee Richard – Dick Anderson suggested that maybe John Pine, who used to live close to where Lee lived on route 27 in North Natick, may have some knowledge as to  Lee’s whereabouts. I am in the process of contacting John.

January 3, 2008 Thursday PM

Pat Morgan has sent me her picture. It has been processed and posted to the Then and Now section.

I spent the better part of the morning looking for the final needles in the haystack, Lee Richard and Robert Robinson. I found no needles and there was more than hay in the stack. Until someone can come up with some concrete information as to their whereabouts, they have been reclassified from “deceased” to “address unknown”.

December 31, 2007 Monday AM

Well, after 20 days of inactivity in the Then and Now section, we have a new picture. George Williams has been posted to the page. I hope the new year brings many more.

December 29, 2007 Saturday AM

More good news. I heard from John Woish last night. His email address has been added to the class list.

I’m still hoping to get many more pictures to post to the Then and Now section. The big holiday is now behind us and the excuses should be drying up. Seriously, the people who mean the most to you already know what you look like. If you plan on coming to the 50th reunion it would be nice if we know who you are when you walk through the door. And don’t try and put one over on me like someone tried to do. Sent me a picture from the early 60’s and said it was current. I ran it through my “age progression” super secret software program. In went an elf, out came Santa.

December 28, 2007 Friday PM

Good news. We have added Bill Whelan and Richard Reynolds to our email list.

I also expect to have an email address for Fred Munro and maybe a phone number for Richard Casaly very soon.

December 27, 2007 Thursday PM

Obituaries have been posted for Robert Thompson, Sheldon Langmead and Richard Nelson.

That leaves us with just three obituaries left to go. Keith Gould, Lee Richard and Robert Robinson. Keith I know has passed away, the other two are still suspect.

December 26, 2007 Wednesday PM

I have located the obituary for Joe McDonald. It has been posted.

You can take Robert Thompson off your list. I just spoke with his brother and Robert died in a car crash either in December 1967 or December 1968. I will check at the library. Thanks to Ron Therieau for steering me in the right direction on this one. Ed Lombard also remembered that he died in a car crash.

December 26, 2007 Wednesday AM

Hey, it just isn’t fair

It isn’t fair when your name shows up on a list of deceased people and you are very much alive.

When I first started this project of updating the class list, I didn’t think for a second that it was going to be a piece of cake. But I also didn’t think it would consume me to the degree it has.

So after many painful months of locating all you “live” folks”, I decided to concentrate on the not so “live” folks. I remember way back when we first started getting lists of classmates and a few people had died, but there was no information about when or how. So I figured that the least I could do was find the obituaries for each deceased classmate and maybe answer a few of those questions.

Every day that I journeyed to the local library I would find one or two obituaries. After a while, the finding got harder and then I just ran into a brick wall. As you may be aware, what I have found on the other side of that brick were the very much alive John Pine, Paul Getty and Fred Munro. How they got on the list is a mystery to me.

So where am I and how can you help.

Let’s concentrate on the three people that I don’t have any definitive data on at all:

Lee Richard

Robert Robinson

Robert Thompson

Do any of you have, or know anyone who has, any definitive information about these three people. Don’t tell me that you have a cousin who knows a guy in East Boston who thinks that someone is dead. We need something that I can corroborate.

Lee Richard, I always thought his name was Lee Richards, but the graduation list provided by Jan Bitzer Cronin has him listed as Arthur Leo Richard. There is a listing in the Social Security Death Index for a Lee Richards who was issued his SS number in Louisiana. I do remember him showing up out of nowhere when he was 12. None of these three show up in a national database for online obituaries. Or if they do, I can’t tell which one is the right one. So I need a little more information about them, like DOD or where they died or something.

In addition to these three, Joe McDonald runs a close second. I’m not sure of the data that I have on him. Without an obituary, I just can’t be sure.

Keith Gould, Sheldon Langmead and Dick Nelson I have first person corroboration of their deaths, but no obituaries.

December 24, 2007 Monday PM

More good news, at least for Fred Munro. He appears to be alive and well. He supposedly lives in Marlborough. I am working on verifying his address and phone number. Once I get all that, I will update the class list.

Phil Rierdan’s obituary has been updated to the full version from the MetroWest Daily News.

December 24, 2007 Monday AM

Natalie Fernald’s obituary has been located in Tennessee.

I have managed to find what appears to be just a death notice for Frank Walton.

December 22, 2007 Saturday PM

So I’m having a lot of luck finding obituaries for many deceased classmates, but I can’t get any information on a couple of them, Paul Gelly to name just one. I decided to see if I could find a relative who might be able to provide me with any information about Paul. I also happened to reference the graduation list provided by Janice Bitzer Cronin and that gave me Paul’s middle name, Lawrence. I did a search in Massachusetts, but didn’t find much. Gelly not being a name you run across very often, I did a US search and found a Paul L Gelly in New Jersey, 67 years old, with a phone number. I called, no answer, I left no message figuring I’d call back later. Five minutes go by and my phone rings. It’s New Jersey. Paul’s wife called me back. He is alive and well. The bad list is getting smaller all the time. Paul says he will try and make the 50th.

December 22, 2007 Saturday AM

I have been able to locate several more obituaries that were not available locally. The following have been updated.

Kenneth Sheldon,  Judith Malone, George Westcott, Elizabeth Lee, David Hughes and John Boyington.

December 20, 2007 Thursday AM

John Dowst provided me with a long lost picture of him and Pug Powers as the Football Managers. It is now posted on Pug’s memorial page.

December 19, 2007 Wednesday PM

I found an obituary for Phil Rierdan in the Boston Herald. When I get to Framingham again, I will go to the library and get the full version, now that I know the DOD.

December 17, 2007 Monday PM

There hasn’t been much activity on my end because there hasn’t been any activity on your end.

Reunion plans have not yet been set. The best that I can say is that there will be some activity in the Spring(April 2008 time frame) and then an all out effort in the Fall of 2008. So don’t expect to hear about anything until then.

I am still expecting pictures from some classmates who have “promised” to get one to me. I can do nothing but be patient.

December 12, 2007 Wednesday PM

I have completed the search for obituaries at the Natick and Framingham libraries. I have managed to find 16 of 37. You can see from the In Memoriam page, there are quite a few question marks.

Once again, any help would be appreciated.

Obituaries added today are, Laura Sanborn, Charles Winterson, Richard Powers and David Lehan. We finally got the correct DOD for David which made the search just a little easier. We went from 1968 to 1988 to 1985.

December 11, 2007 Tuesday PM

Two things have changed on the web site since this morning.

Paul Callahan has been added to the Then and Now section

The main page for In Memoriam has been updated to show all the known dates of birth and dates of death.

December 11, 2007 Tuesday AM

I have researched more information on our deceased classmates.

I am still working on getting their obituaries and have added their date of birth as well as their date of death.

There are some missing pieces of information. If anyone has any information please send it my way.

December 7, 2007 Friday AM

New obituaries are now posted for Paul Kelly, Patricia McClosky and James McClosky.

If anyone has or can get obituaries for any of our classmates who have passed on, please help by sending them to me via post, email or fax. Or if someone knows the exact date of death, down to the day of the month, that will help.

December 6, 2007 Thursday AM

David Lehan – I just spoke with David’s mother, I very lovely lady still living in Natick. He gave me some background information on David, primarily his date of death which was March 21, 1988, not the March 1968 date that we have been posting. I will get his formal obituary and post that very soon. I also have a posting from Ron Therieau on David that will get posted this morning.

December 5, 2007 Wednesday PM

The obituary for Robert Tetreault has been found at the Natick Library and has been posted on the In Memoriam page for him.

I had not received any confirmation from John Pine that I had the correct address and email address, so I called him. We spoke briefly. The information we have is correct. He is unlikely to be attending the 50th.  He had no issues with the publication of his personal information, so you should feel free to reconnect.

December 5, 2007 Wednesday AM

There are a couple of loose ends that would be nice to clean up:

1.      There are 3 people unidentified in the 40th reunion picture.

a.      20 is a male standing to Charlie LePage’s right

b.      41 is a male standing to Barbara Simons right

c.       56 is a female sitting in the middle of Sandy Skeans and Anna Thompson.

2.      Someone must know who these classmates are. Or did they crash the party?

3.      I have kind of reached an impasse with this web site. I am still searching for obituaries and will still post Then and Now pictures as they come in. They next big push may not happen until the plans for the 50th start to take shape. Then again, I might get an idea tomorrow and add a whole bunch of new stuff. All suggestions are welcome, but may not be implemented.

December 3, 2007 Monday

With the addition of Susan Johnson to the Then and Now picture section, we have 53 classmates whose vanity has subsided enough to send me their pictures. It would be nice to have at least 100 pictures before the reunion and certainly anyone who plans to attend should send in their picture. It’s getting harder and harder to recognize folks these days.

December 1, 2007 Saturday

John Pine is alive and well, living in Yuma, CO for the past 30 years. The class list has been updated, but I do not yet have email confirmation that the data is 100% accurate.

Many thanks to Jimmy Teague for chasing this one down.

December 1, 2007 Saturday

SPECIAL REQUEST:

The Natick Library is still looking for several Sassamons for their school archive project. The years still on the list are:

1917, 1918, 1920, 1921, 1923, 1924, 1928, 1930, 1987, 1998, 2001, 2005

If you have access to any of these Sassamons, please contact Gaylene Bordeaux [GBordeaux@minlib.net]

FOUND:

Sheila Sullivan:  With the help of Joanna Drowne and Karen Alice Moore, I was able to find the obituary for Sheila in the Natick Bulletin, now posted on her In Memoriam page.

John Pine:  Found in Yuma Colorado, alive and kicking. Jimmy Teague did all the leg work on this one.

                                                LOST:

Before I get into each person still not found, let me clarify something. The current list shows a total of 17 people either Not 100% Verified or Address Unknown. Of these 17 people, I actually have the whereabouts of 7 of them. Those 7, for a couple of reasons have either asked not to be included on this list or others have indicated that they prefer not to be contacted.  So that leaves 10 that we can focus on.

Lee D. Curtis:  I have had an address for Lee ay 15 Knoll Road in Hopkinton. Bev Long verified that Clementine is his wife. I will try one more time sending him a letter to a PO Box and hope that the Hopkinton PO will put the letter in the right slot.

Patricia Harcourt Frost:  Patty’s last known address was in West Kennebunk, Maine. The last phone number for her there belongs to someone else and has belonged to that person for several years, maybe 5.  I have contacted her ex-husband, one of her sons and her older sister. To date, I have not be able to have them provide me with any contact information for her. One of those Private Eye mysteries.

Mary Johnson Moore:  Mary lives somewhere in my town of Milford, Ma. I have spoken with her daughter who lives in Framingham on several occasions and each time she promised to call her mother and have Mary call me. So, either the daughter didn’t contact her or she did and Mary chooses not to contact me.

Lawrence Megliola:  Larry is the brother of Lenny. Larry didn’t graduate with us from high school, but he was with us for a number of years and is well known by many classmates. The last address for Larry was in Wayland, but that address and phone number had not yielded any contact.

Timothy Anderson:  An Engineer with Raytheon at one time. He has been a world traveler so his whereabouts could be anywhere.

Janice Chandler:  Anna Thompson has provided me with an email address for Janice. She has been asked to contact me. No results yet, but it has been less than a week. Janice is either in Las Vegas or California.

Judith Davis:  Diane Campisi has been in touch with Judy in the past. She may have more information in a few weeks.

William Gour:  The last address for Bill is Sturbridge. He may be in the food service business.

Gloria Jones: Total dead end. Did she marry? Has her name changed?

Joseph Vay:  Joe has been reported to me that he may have left the country and is living somewhere in Europe.

DECEASED:

In general, if anyone has access to the obituary for any of the deceased, please send it my way.

Paul Gelly:  Does anyone know where he was living at the time he died? Wife’s name? When he died?

Elizabeth Lee: Does anyone know if she ever married? Her married name? When she died? Where she died?

Frederick Munro: Does anyone have any information on Fred? When? Where? Married? Wife’s name? Kids?

Robert Thompson: Janice Bitzer absolutely remembers him and it is Robert. But no information on when or where.

WHO IS THIS?

Check out the person circled(yellow) in the Coolidge picture. Does anyone know who that is? Could it be Harry Plausse? He is a year older than we are, but it sure looks like him.

And the one circled(red) is either Tommy Amato or Tommy Armata. Who knows the right answer? Armata wins.

Dear Class of 1959 Classmate,

You have seen the class list as of late September. At that time we were still missing 7 people. With the help of John Wall and Jimmy Linton we were able to add Russ Barber and Dick Donovan to our fold. So the list is in pretty good shape.

Not having a computer does put you at a disadvantage now that we have a class web site up and running. Be assured that we will keep you informed about activities none-the-less. However, the web site has some pretty interesting pictures from the 45th reunion, some pictures of Natick today for all you out of State folks and most importantly is the Then and Now pictures. I have shamed a number of classmates into sending me a current photo which I then post next to their school photo. Very interesting.

So, will you send me a current photo, even a negative. I’ll even send it back to you when I’m done. Here is the test. Look at me in 59, look at me now. If I can do it, so can you.

We still do not have plans in place for the 50th, but something is about to get started before the end of this year.

The web site is something you should really try and see. Your local library should have computers that will get you onto the Internet. Here is the address.

I guarantee it will be worth your time and effort to get to a computer.

If you do get on the Internet, the class list is password protected.

Both of those are case sensitive inputs.

I am adding another section to the web site called In Memoriam.

We have lost 38 classmates. I am looking for some words of remembrance from any of their friends. Please take a look at the list below and if you would like to contribute to their page(each deceased classmate will have their own page), please send those words along to me. I will attribute to you, whatever words you offer.

Send your words of remembrance, photos or negatives or hate mail to

Dear Natick High 1959 Classmate,

Our 50th reunion is fast approaching. Plans are being formulated for a fall 2009 get together.

This past summer, working with San Carlucci(Buswell), we dug as deep into the ether of the Internet as we could to find everyone. Some of you have done a pretty good job of finding new places to live with very little in the way of a paper trail.

Once the process of finding people got started, it became addictive to find just one more person before giving up for the day or night. The results are that we are in very good shape finding most of our classmates. Here are some of the metrics:

Classmates in the list             261

Total people accounted for  248

Email addresses                     169

Deceased                                  37

Classmates totally missing       7

            Timothy Anderson

            Russell Barber

Janice Chandler

            Judith Davis

            William Gour

            Gloria Jones

            Joseph Vay

Any help here would be much appreciated. An old address, an old girlfriend, an old boyfriend, almost anything can help us find these folks.
