Meredith Swanson
September 25, 1942 – April 23, 2016
No obituary for Merrie was published. The information
below was provided by her community of friends at Lakeview Gardens in Natick
where she lived for the past 26 years and by Merrie’s sister Sally Legge.
Merrie worked for New England Telephone for many
years. More recently she enjoyed a tomato garden and bird feeder outside her
home in Lakeview Gardens. She enjoyed animals and watching old M*A*S*H episodes
on television. Merrie passed while in hospice care at the Elliot Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Natick. She is
buried alongside her mother in the Swanson family plot in Glenwood Cemetery in
South Natick.
Merrie’s good friend David Kelley provided the picture
above. He describes Merrie as someone “who could giggle like a little girl; who
absolutely loved thunder storms and monster snow storms...and Godiva chocolate!
She loved watching birds she could see from her apartment...she had many
pictures of hawks and even wild turkeys in her photo album; the bird on her
shoulder belonged to a friend, Ann, who lived in the same building, and worked
at the phone company with Merrie. Ann and Merrie were good buddies.”
