NATICK
- Lawrence W. "Larry" Hanson, 64, a lifelong resident of Natick, died
Wednesday, May 2, 2007, peacefully, surrounded by family at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Residence following a two and a half year battle
with cancer.
A
memorial service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, at 10
a.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Sherborn at Washington Street
(Rte. 16), Sherborn. Burial will follow
in the Hanson family lot in Lakeview Cemetery, Wayland.
He
was the husband of Joan M. (Hunter) Hanson for 41 years.
Born
in Boston, the son of the late Lawrence and Mary (Hurley) Hanson, he was a lifelong
resident of Natick and graduated from Natick High School with the Class of
1961.
He
served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1958 during the Vietnam War and was
stationed in Thailand with the engineering corps.
Prior
to his retirement, he was a manufacturing engineer with Polaroid Corp. of
Waltham for more than 35 years and was then associated with Wellesley College
for 10 years.
He
had been a member of the Natick Elks for many years.
Mr.
Hanson was a dedicated father and grandfather who enjoyed outdoor projects,
water sports, grilling and cooking. He
was passionate about time in the sun vacationing with his family and friends at
Sebago Lake in Maine and on Cape Cod. He
had many close family and friends during his illness and will be missed by
those who knew him.
Besides
his, wife, he leaves three children, Lynne King and her husband, Bryan, of
Natick, Lori Doucette and her husband Mark, of Natick and Mark Hanson of Las
Vegas; his grandchildren, Erika and Emily Hanson, Colby and Charlotte King, and
Taylor, Madison and Faith Doucette; his sisters, Dotty Pagliarulo
of Ashland, and Frances Seaholm of Leominster; a
stepbrother, Larry Raleigh of East Sebago, Maine; and several nieces and
nephews.
Instead
of flowers, his family suggests memorial gifts be sent to the Miriam Boyd Parlin Residence, 10 Green Way, Wayland, MA 01778.
