Description: Description: John Edward Sheasgreen, Jr.John Edward Sheasgreen, Jr.

John Edward Sheasgreen,Jr., 68, of Blackberry Road, North Attleboro, died on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the Rose Monihan Hospice Home in Worcester following a long battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Claire Marie (McDonald) Sheasgreen. Born in Portland, Maine on July 9, 1943, to John Sr., a television and appliance salesman for Westinghouse, and Kay (Tierney) Sheasgreen, his family moved frequently during his childhood following his father’s work until finally settling in Natick in his early teens.

As a student his youthful exuberance expressed itself most in his personable, outgoing manner and athleticism. He ran cross-country and the 4x400 track event and he continued to jog throughout his life.

John graduated from Natick High School in 1961. Later he studied at the University of Massachusetts – Amherst. Following his father, John became a salesman. Improbably, he found himself selling jewelry at Lechmere in downtown Boston where he met his future wife, then Claire M. McDonald. They married in October 1969.

John served in the Massachusetts National Guard 1965-1971.

John and Claire resided in Framingham from 1969 – 1973 where they met many of their lifelong friends. They then moved to North Attleboro where they raised their two sons.

John has worked for Mattek Corporation, a biotech firm, in Ashland for the past 20 years, first in the capacity of Sales Manager and then as President.

Before that John was employed by and later acquired the Transcriber Corporation in Attleboro.

Although he never boasted regarding his expertise as a businessman, he was a critical player in fostering success and growth in his workplace.

A lifelong learner, John extended his education via night classes and self-study while working and raising a family.

John loved business, by which he could express his value of cooperation and competition.

John was a sports and political junky and his passionate allegiances are well known to his friends and family.

John relished traveling and enjoyed collecting wine and spending time with the ones he loved.

A penetrating judge of character and keen analyst of situations, but expansively friendly, quietly charitable, benignly curious and good-humored, he was a good man, a dedicated and adoring husband to Claire, a supportive and devoted father and grandfather, and a loyal friend to his siblings and those that were closest to him. John will truly be missed.

He leaves two sons: Kevin J. Sheasgreen and his wife, Lorry (Taylor) Sheasgreen, of Montrose, Colorado and Timothy A.Sheasgreen and his wife, Alexandra (Griffiths) Sheasgreen, of South Grafton; two grandchildren: Colton John Sheasgreen and Maya Rose Sheasgreen both of South Grafton; two sisters: Anne Hurd of Kingston, New Hampshire and Jean Robichaud of Stanton Valley, Arizona; several nieces, nephews, extended family members, members of his wife’s family, and numerous friends including the longtime friends from the “Sovereign Apartment” days.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation and celebrate his life on Monday, January 16,2012 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM in the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home – the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson House, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp,¾ mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.
