Herbert Emerson Hardy

 

Whitinsville--Herbert Emerson Hardy of Whitinsville, formerly of Raynham, Massachusetts.


Born in Natick, MA May 17, 1943 to Margaret Waterman Hardy and Ralph Hardy; died November 20, 2015 following a struggle with his third cancer. Beloved husband of 43 years to Mary Keleher Hardy and devoted father to Elizabeth and Michael Hardy; father-in-law to Marisa Mandos and grandfather of Sloane Caroline Hardy. Herb is also survived by his brother, Edward Hardy and sisters, Margaret Cole and Christine Henry, many loving nieces and nephews, and many brothers and sisters-in-law who stood by him through it all. His brother, Raymond Hardy, predeceased Herb in 1993.

 
Herb graduated from Natick High School in 1961 and proudly served as a Corporal in the United States Army, seeing active duty in Vietnam. He graduated from Suffolk University in 1978 with a degree in accounting. His early accounting career was at various Boston area hospitals culminating as comptroller at Nashoba Community Hospital in Ayer, MA. He later went into business manufacturing premium salt-water taffy and worked as a courier in recent years.


Herb was an avid reader, follower of thoroughbred horseracing and a “sparky” with a great interest in Fire Departments and their equipment.

 

A calling hour will be held at the First Congregational Church (Stone Church) in Raynham, MA on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00.
