Edward F. Donovan, Jr.
Edward “Ed” Donovan Jr., of South Yarmouth, passed away on
September 8, 2024, at the age of 80, surrounded by his loving family.
Ed was the cherished husband of the late Diane Donovan and a
beloved father to his son, Robert Donovan, and his wife, Caroline, of Yarmouth
Port, and his daughter, Christina (Donovan) Nault, and her husband, Andrew, of
Uxbridge. He was a loving grandfather to his three granddaughters: Alison (fiancé Ryan), Carly, and Bailey. Ed also leaves behind his
dear siblings: Patricia, Maureen, Kathleen, Danny, Ann, Donna, and Mary. He is
now reunited with his brothers Timmy and Stephen in the afterlife.
Ed and Diane's romance began on the picturesque Popponesset Beach during their teenage years. Even after
Diane's passing, Ed carried her memory in his heart every day. Now, they are
reunited, sharing an eternal bond.
A proud Sea Bee in the Navy, Ed later worked as a union ironworker
in Boston. He was top of his apprentice class and went on to lead as a
superintendent. In his retirement, he found joy basking in the sun in Aruba and
Florida, playing golf, following the news, and spending cherished moments with
his family. Ed will be fondly remembered for his sharp wit and his secret soft
heart. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew
him.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19, from 4pm to
7pm at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA. A funeral
service will be celebrated on Friday, September 20, at 10:30am, also at Hallett
