Dear Classmates,

In our recent visits to Natick High School during the 50th and 55th class reunions, we noticed that several of our classmates were on the NHS Wall of Achievement. We are proud of them and their accomplishments. However, we also observed that there were no women among the honorees from our class. We hope you will help us address this deficiency by nominating a classmate – or yourself – for the NHS Wall of Achievement.

In conversations with Diane VerSchure, NHS Wall of Achievement Coordinator, we learned some helpful tips on submitting nominations:

1. There is no limit to the number of nominations that may be submitted each year.

2. The Wall of Achievement Selection Committee is composed of a mix of students, 2 administrators, a staff representative, a MA State Representative who is an NHS graduate, and parents.

3. The Selection Committee hopes to select at least 4 winners each year.

4. The deadline for nominations this year is June 1, 2017.

5. Classmates may be nominated either by other members of our graduating class or by themselves (i.e., self-nominations).

6. The more separate nominations an individual receives, the more favorably the committee looks at the nominee.

7. Nomination Applications may be obtained at this website:     http://natickhighwebdesign.com/wallofachievement/

8. The application form is filled out by the person doing the nominating. Later, the committee may request more information from the person nominating and/or additional information from the nominee.

9. The honoree(s) must attend that year’s Wall of Achievement Ceremony and Dinner in person.  If an honoree cannot attend that year’s ceremony, the award is postponed until the honoree can make it.

10. On the day of the ceremony, the honoree(s) spends the day on campus with NHS students.

11. Additionally, honorees are asked to give students advice and serve as mentors, if available.

Judy Duff Donahue, Pat Mansell Kelly, and Susan Sullivan DeMelle are available for help with the form. If you desire their help, contact Tom Stewart at Natick1961@gmail.com and he will have one of us contact you.

When considering a nominee, you may want to visit The Book of Years on the Class of 1961 website to review the information posted there regarding your classmates. Women may also want to add to their Book of Years entries if work achievements or community achievements were not included in their original post, or if significant achievements have occurred in the years since their post.

Let’s make it our goal to have one or more female nominations submitted this year and in future years!!!

Thank you,

Judy, Pat, Susan
