January 30, 1942 – February 24, 2010

 

Marcia Thompson Holmes left us on February 24th, 2010 at 10:53 a.m., after an eight year fight with Ovarian Cancer.

 

Born on January 30th, 1942 in Natick, Massachusetts to George and Roma (Wright) Thompson. Marcia has been a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Involved in the United Methodist Church, its missions, and many other of its activities since childhood in both Natick, Mass. and Manchester, N.H., she most recently played a major role in the First United Methodist Church Food Pantry in Manchester, N.H.

 

Marcia was the food service manager for Sabastian Catering for 10 plus years. A job she both loved and was loved for, she leaves many friends behind there. Marcia was also an active participant in civil rights. A Loving wife, mother and grandmother, Marcia leaves behind three children from her first marriage to Edwin Nault: Her son, William J. Nault Capt. USN and wife Stephanie of Warwick, R.I., her daughter, Rebecca J. (Nault) Szum and husband Robert of Pepperell, Mass. and daughter Jessica R. (Nault) Laine and husband Richard of Milton, Mass. Marcia also leaves her sister, Linda L. (Thompson) Thistle of Apex, N.C. and nephew Scott Thistle.

 

In addition to her husband, Robert L. Holmes of Manchester, N.H., she leaves three stepchildren, Dr. Kathleen N. Holmes and husband Don Ludwig of Harvard, Mass., Susan C. Burgess and husband Ron of Milford, N.H. and Warren S. Holmes and wife Marcia of Hanover, Mass. She also leaves her 16 grandchildren, whom she adored and cherished everyday and who adored her as well.

 

Marcia was predeceased by her stepson Andrew B. Holmes and nephew Samuel Thistle.

 

Services: Her Memorial Service will be held on Monday March 1st, at 11 a.m. at Fisk Memorial United Methodist Church, 106 Walnut St, Natick, Mass. Interment will follow the service at Dell Park Cemetery, Natick. Memorial gifts in Marcia’s name can be made to the First United Methodist Church Food Pantry, 961 Valley St, Manchester, NH 03103 or the American Cancer Society , 2 Commerce Drive, #110, Bedford, NH 03110.
