Walter Porter

PEYTON, CO - Walter T. Porter, 81, of 9344 Bethpage Road, died Thursday, September 7, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family after a battle with cancer.

He is survived by his wife, June Davoli of Swampscott. His three daughters, Christina A. MacRae and her husband, Robert of Milford, Vikki L. Flagg and her husband, Michael of Hubbardston, Julie A. Dumas and her husband, Matthew of Pomfret, CT; stepdaughter Rachel West of Swampscott, and four grandchildren and six step grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Ethel L. Porter in 2006, and his brother, Francis J. Porter in 1989. He was born in Wellesley, son of Dorothy H. (Blondiet) Higgins and Francis J. Porter.

Walter was a graduate of Natick High School. He worked 32 years for Sterling DPW as a water technician. He was a volunteer firefighter and EMT for over 28 years for the town of Sterling.

In the later portion of his life, he moved to Colorado where he enjoyed spending time and going out with his friends. While in Colorado, he enjoyed fly fishing, sightseeing and many more outdoor activities.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service honoring his life at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 30, at Hillside Cemetery in Sterling. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at https://www.cancer.org/donate.html or to the Sterling Fire Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 515, Sterling, MA 01564. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
