Obituary for Judith A. Dolan
North Greenbush- Judith A. Dolan passed
away unexpectedly, yet peacefully at her home, on the twentieth of May 2018.
Judy was born February 1st, 1942 in Natick,
Massachusetts to Gretchen and Willaird (Bill). She
spent her youth in Massachusetts before her family moved to Baldwinsville, N.Y.
in 1958. Graduating from High School in 1960, Judy went on to earn her college
degree from SUNY Canton in 1962. She then worked at GE Electronics Park,
Bristol Labs and Syracuse University before moving to Albany and taking a
position at New York State United Teachers. Judy loved her work in the NYSUT
Legislative Department, especially with VOTE/COPE where she connected with
members statewide. In 1990, she was chosen as the VOTE/COPE honoree of the
Year. She retired after 32 years of service in 2004. She traveled to Europe
with family upon retiring.
Loved ones that have preceded her on this
path were her parents, Gretchen and Bill, her older brother, Jim and nephew
Carey, as well as friends, Dennis and Caroline Lynch and Deb Franklin. Family
who will be so sorely missing her include her brother, Mark (Carol), her
sister-in-law, Carol (Booty), her niece, Linda Zbarcha
and great nephew, Kelton Zbarcha. Judy was blessed
with the dearest of friends, especially Beryl and Joe Rizzo and John Franklin
and daughters. Her beloved cat, Callie is also missing Judy’s comforting and
loving care. Judy will be remembered as a faithful and devoted friend to those
lucky enough to know her.
Judy was a tireless worker with a great
sense of humor and a bit of a mischievous nature. She was quite adventuresome
at times (except for trying new foods). She loved camping, game nights, the
ocean, and cruises on Lake George. She was known to have a cocktail or two on
occasion often with hilarious results. She secretly harbored a wish to drive
dump trucks which she fortunately only experienced one time, much to her
parent’s chagrin.
Her family wishes to invite you to a
celebration of her life well spent on Saturday, July 14th at her home on 2
Nadia Circle, Troy, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Donations in Judy’s name may be made to AnimalKind NY, 721 Warren Street, Hudson, NY 12534 or an
