Marie E. (Carey) Baker, 81, passed
peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at UMass Medical Center-University
Campus following a brief illness. She is preceded in death by her beloved
husband Thomas E. Baker. She is survived by her three sons, Kenneth McGovern
& wife Bonnie; Benjamin McGovern & wife Lisa; Brian McGovern &
companion Angelina Milinazzo; step-children, Timothy & Elaine Baker and
Julie Barnhill & husband Timothy; two grandchildren, Melissa Gregoire &
husband Nathan; and Michael McGovern; step-grandchildren, Jackson Barnhill,
Katie Barnhill, and Olivia Baker; and three great-grandchildren, James, Amelia,
and Lucas. She leaves her siblings, Dorothy Jagling, James Carey, Francis
Carey, Linda Mitchell, and Thomas Carey; nieces, nephews, extended family,
notably Shannon, Dan, Flynn, and Nolan Szczebak, and many dear friends.
Daughter of the late James &
Dorothy (Trull) Carey, Marie was raised in Natick, attended local schools and
was a graduate of Natick High School, Class of 1960. In addition to raising her
boys, she worked for many years at the Old Town Market in South Natick and
later as a secretary and receptionist for Foster-Miller Engineering, Inc. in
Waltham, where she would meet and work alongside her future husband Tom.
Following marriage, the couple would settle in Mashpee, where they together
would enjoy involvement in their newfound community. Marie notably served as a
member of the Mashpee Women’s Club and volunteer for the Mashpee Public School
System. Among her hobbies, Marie enjoyed reading, drawing, and painting.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 from 9:30-11AM with a
Funeral Service to follow at 11AM in the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304
Church St., Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Marie
