We
have good news and not good news. The good news is that for the time being (exact
time TBD), after the end of July 2024, your website will still be accessible.
The bad news is that I am stepping down as your webmaster. No more updates will
be provided. I have been tracking the number of web hits your class web page experiences
every month. The numbers are very low, so this change is not likely to impact
very many classmates.

happened to be checking the Natick High School Memorial Facebook page and

an update on four classmates previously listed as deceased.
Frank
Walker’s passing date has been determined to be in May of 2001. His in Memoriam
page has been updated, but no obituary has yet been found.
Patricia
Hall was listed as missing and then within the past 6 or 7 years that was
changed to deceased with a DOB listed, but no passing date. She still remains a
mystery. If anyone can provide the slightest bit of info to help me locate the
rest of the story that would be appreciated. She did have a sister Cynthia and
a brother Ralph B Hall III
Irwin Rubin’s passing date has been
determined. Check his In Memoriam page.
Margaret Legge’s story has been somewhat

While
I was updating all the files associated with the listing of all the classmates,
I noticed that there was only one reported death in 2021. I am willing to keep
these records updated, but I think I need your help. If you become aware of any
change of status for any classmate, please let me know.

many hours of searching through many places in the Internet, I finally found an
obituary for Laurea Higgins. The In Memoriam page has been updated.

email about Dennis Drugan and Edward Bessey stirred the pot in a good way. Some
folks had email addresses change and one person had a home address change. When
these types of changes take place, I will post the info here and most likely
NOT send out a general email. Periodically I send an email just as a wellness
check.

Today,
your treasurer, Paula Chamberlain, announced that the Class of 1960 had made a
donation($794) to the Vi Tutuny Food Pantry through the Natick Service Council.
This was well received by the food pantry and just in time for Thanksgiving.

correction for Chelia Reed Thorpe, your class list has been updated and posted

By
a strange set of circumstances, I was talking with one of my 59 classmates and
the subject of Doug Woodbury came up. Now Doug didn’t graduate with you in
1960, but he was a classmate for most of his schooling years. That makes him
someone who should have been on your class list radar all along.
It
just so happens that Doug passed away in 2011 from complications due to his
service to our country in Vietnam. He was only 68 years old.
I
have created an In Memoriam page for him which has been posted. I do not have
any photographs of him, but I’m sure that some of you must have a few. Sent
them along to me and I’ll add them to his pasge.

All
of you should know by now that John Barnicle passed away on April 4, 2020. It
has taken some time to verify that he was the John Barnicle from the Class of
1960. That has now been confirmed.
No
obituary just yet, but some interesting pictures from his daughter’s Facebook
account showing the John you knew and the John you probably didn’t know. Check
the In Memoriam page. If I get an obituary, that will get posted right away.

I
visited the Dell Park Cemetery yesterday to make sure that Marine 2nd
Lt Allen Loane’s grave was properly flagged for the upcoming Memorial Day. I
was surprised by a couple of things.
#1
While many veteran’s graves had new American flags, a few did not.
#2
Two in particular were Allen’s grave and also Paul Aseltine’s grave which just
happens to be a few feet in front of and to the left of Allen’s grave. I don’t
know why I never noticed that before.
#3
Both had the Marine Corps flag. I have updated Paul’s In Memoriam page to show
the two graves in question
I
will be going back to the cemetery this weekend to place American Flags on both
graves if they are still missing.
If
anyone is interested in visiting these graves, they are located in the back row
of graves as seen from Pond Street. Not the main entrance, but the second
entrance. Drive in, stay as straight as you can until you get to the back row
and take a left. Their graves are just before you get to the water faucet.

Sorry
to bring you this sad news during these horrible times, but Joanne Micelotta
passed away yesterday, March 22, 2020. Details are very sketchy at the moment.
Due to COVID19, there do not appear to be any funeral services being held until
a future date. An In Memoriam page has been posted for Joanne. When her full
obituary is published, the In Memoriam page will be updated.

classmate, Kathleen Hand, passed away this past Wednesday, March 11. An In

For
those of you who might be interested, of the 336 classmates listed in the
classlist, 92 have passed away, approximately 27%. The Class of 1959 has lost
79 of 263 classmates which is 30%.

arrives today of the passing of your president, Ken Fontecchio. Ken died on
October 12, 2019, at home.
There
are no funeral services open to the public. That means that the only way to
offer condolences will be to send his wife Marilyn a card. His home address is

brings news that another classmate has passed away. Margaret Peggy Lane was a
childhood friend of mine having been born and brought up just a few houses away
from me on Durant Road. Her family moved when she was 12ish, but she was always

It’s been a busy day.
I just found out about Tom Glynn. He passed away in October. An interesting
side note, when I graduated from NHS in 1959, I went in the Army for 3 years.
When I got out, I went to Northeastern University in the Engineering program
and who turn up to teach Field Theory? Tom Glynn. Man was he one smart dude.
His obituary has been posted to the In Memoriam page.

Dorothy Perkins that Carolyn Parris passed away this past December 10th.

talking with a classmate of mine and we were discussing a recent death of a
Natick Police officer, Edward Kerrissey. I was informed that he graduated from
Natick in the class of 1960. So, I have put together an In Memoriam page in his
honor and posted it to this website.
I don’t mind
adding this information to the 1960 website, but I am not in a position to do a
very good job.

Back on August 24th,
I posted a message about the passing of your classmate, Nancy Barr. Maybe it’s
just me, not really knowing everyone in your class, but quite a few folks
seemed to be a little confused as to exactly who was Nancy Barr. Did she go to
school with you or not?
Well, today, I
received an email from one of your very own, Peggy Lane. She knew Nancy and
clarified the story very nicely. So here is an edited transcript of what she
sent me.
“Hi Allan, Nancy
Barr was a good friend of mine, she left school in 11th grade. I gave her a baby shower. My first husband
Billy Hansbury was a friend of her soon to be husband Danny Brady. We met for dinners and had weekend adventures
together. A great couple! So sorry to
hear about Nancy, she was a really nice girl. Talk again, Peg.”

long missing classmate, Nancy Waddington who is Nancy Waddington Ryan. Her

Well, yesterday’s
email yielded more information than I expected. Nick Ortenzi told me about his
cousin Alvena passing away. I found her obituary in Ohio from 2016. Then I
found some info on the third Ortenzi in your class, Lois. She was married as
Lois Ferris and she died in 2001. The In Memoriam page has been updated with
all that I have at the moment. If anyone has additional information about the
whereabouts of any other classmates, please drop me a note.

After many months
of silence, information came to me about a member of the Class of 1960. The
source of the information was one of my classmates, Janet Murphy. She somehow
was aware of an old obituary for Nancy Barr Brady Cloutier. Nancy’s obituary
has been posted to her In Memoriam page.
In case you’re wondering, I am Allan Ross from
the class of 1959. It sure would be nice to have someone from the class of 1960
step up to the plate and get involved with the Class List and potentially a 60th

Activity on this
web site is nearing a critical date. On January 1, 2016, should no one step
forward to maintain and grow the site, it will become dormant. It won’t
necessarily disappear, but nothing will be updated. There is a tremendous
opportunity for someone to take over and start collecting information from
previous reunions, classmate biographies, old and current pictures of
classmates, etc. The list is large as to what you can do to spark the memories
of your youth. The rewards for this work cannot be measured in dollars and
cents, but in personal satisfaction.

All my turkey day
chores were done so I decided to change the format of the home page. Left lots
of room for future additions should anyone get the courage to dive deep into
the pool.
Also set up pages
to capture previous reunions should anyone have any photos from those years
gone by.
I will also
challenge folks to send me current pictures so that your classmates can see how
you have escaped the ravages of father time or not.
Given the hit rate
that this website gets, I don’t feel that I will be overwhelmed with work any
time soon.

Just a couple of
house cleaning chores.
#1 Back on
November 9th, I sent the following email to everyone with a valid
email address. The class list shows that 155 classmates have email addresses,
but only 77 have been verified.
The
Class of 1960 has an opportunity to get and stay connected through your very
own web site. www.natickhigh.net/1960/1960.html
Ideally,
it would be terrific if one person stood tall and accepted responsibility for
the web site and the Class List. If someone will do this, a couple of problems
get fixed. Every time the class list changes, work has to be done on the web
site. Not much work, but some work. If the Class List has any issues, then the
web site manager can take care of that. Reunion organization can be done by
someone else. That could be your condition for taking on the website and the
class list.
Bonus
Section – If any of you have pictures from previous reunions, could you send
them to me. Send the best quality pictures you can email even if you have to
send only 3 or 4 pictures per email. As an example, the 50th reunion
posted on Facebook are lower quality pictures than I would normally use to post
on the web. I want pictures that you will be able to download to your computer
and then get prints made at Walgreens.
Also
if you have a good quality picture from Coolidge graduation, could you send
that to me for scanning or scan it yourself as a color image(gives better
definition) and then email it to me.
We are also posting current pictures if you are brave
enough to send those to me.
So what have I
heard since November 9th? How many people are fighting for the
chance to work their magic on the Internet? Well, that would be ZERO.
The class list and
the website are getting cleaned up, but it may all be for naught. I don’t have
the insider knowledge about your class that someone in your class would have.
This job requires a classmate. My fingers are getting weary and the end of the
year could be the end of my involvement. That takes me to the next house
cleaning issue
#2 I have embarked
upon the task of creating an In Memoriam section for all your deceased
classmates. If you take a look at this page, you will find many missing pieces
of information. Date of Birth, Date of Death, Obituaries are among the missing
for many. Any help during the next month would be most appreciated.
#3 If someone does
stand up and accept the challenge of taking over this activity, I will impart
great wisdom upon you.
#4 As always, I

Sad news provided
yesterday by Linda Fredrickson was that Alfred Augustini passed away last

We have really
been working overtime to get the latest and greatest email addresses out there.
The current class list has been updated with many new email addresses.
It would be nice
if everyone could look at their email address and notify me (at least in the short term) if they
see any mistakes. You could also check on any other classmates whose email
address you know. Let me know about them as well and I will verify the
information with them.
A class list with
many errors is almost as good as no list at all. Any help you can provide will
be greatly appreciated by those who use the list to make contact with long lost
friends.

upon a project to verify and clarify all the email addresses in the class list.
We do have a disconnect on quite a few of them so I have been sending out
requests to verify the addresses. Please simply reply to these emails should
you get one.

The changes made
to the class list over the past seven days have been extensive. We had an all
out push to get email addresses, phone numbers and any other information we
could find. The changes are too numerous to list individually, but we can tell
you the following:
A new category has
been created to identify those classmates who we think we have addresses for,
but we haven’t been able to verify the information. Those folks are listed as
Not Verified. There are 50 people in this category.
There are also a

Added a second Class
List download option called Class List(docx). It seems that IPADs don’t like
the older version of MS Word, only the newer version. So all those IPAD users
out there, let Marsha know if you are having problems downloading and opening
the Class List file.

underway to update the Class List for those of our classmates who have passed
on.
Please take a look
at the list and if you can fill in the blanks with either date of birth, date
of passing or best of all, the person has not passed. Please forward any

Of course, if you
