Marathon 2016
Boston Marathon 2016
Ken Poole – Boston #20, Total
Marathons #50
BAA Marathon-2016
It was a warm day. The entire
class of 1959 was encouraged to meet in Lincoln Square at the corner of Dewey
Street to watch Ken compete in his 50th overall marathon and the 20th
at the Boston Marathon. Joanna Drowne and I carried the banner for the class.
Here is the picture sequence.
Ken is wearing his Allen Loane Memorial Square shirt.
And just a note about the
marathon: Not too many crazy customs this year. Several TuTus, both men and women. Must be
an equality thing.
The wheel chairs came through a
little after 10AM, lead women a little after 10:30, lead men at about 11 and
then two more hours before Ken showed up. Joanna brought cookies so that was
lunch. By the time I got home, my face was burning hot from the sunburn. The
only shade came from the helicopters flying at what seemed like 200 feet. A few
of them looked like they were armed.

Here is Ken’s story concerning
his training and what happened after he passed through Natick on his way to
Boston for the 20th time. Ken’s Marathon Story
