Theresa
Gately
October 9, 1941 – January 15, 2010
Theresa M. Waldron, age 68, of Brockton,
passed away peacefully, Jan. 15, 2010, at home, under the care of her family
and hospice. She was the beloved wife of Paul M. Waldron, for the past 45
years.
Theresa was born in Waltham, Oct. 9, 1941,
a daughter of the late William P. Gately and Agnes (Hennebury)
Gately. Raised in Natick, she was a graduate of St. Patricks
School and Natick High School. She made her home in Brockton for the past
41years.
Prior to her marriage, she was employed at
New England Life Insurance Company of Boston. After raising her children, she
went to work at the Brockton VA Medical Center, retiring from there after
seventeen years. Theresa served as a VA volunteer after her retirement. She was
a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and volunteered for many
years at DAV Chapter 57 in Taunton.
She and her husband travelled extensively
in Europe and the Middle East. An outdoor person, she enjoyed bicycling,
kayaking and hiking in the mountains. She often reminded people that even
though we may own property, we are simply temporary caretakers of the land and
always cared for her little corner of the world.
In addition to her husband, she is survived
by three sons, Matthew Waldron of Taunton, Paul M. Waldron II of Stamford,
Conn. and Brian P. Waldron of Danbury, Conn.; nine grandchildren and many
nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters, Catherine Rizzo of
Middleboro, Marcella McKay of Connecticut and two brothers, Phillip Gately of
Chelmsford and Peter Gately of Brookline. She was predeceased by two brothers,
William Gately of Natick and Bernard Gately of Kansas City, Mo.
