Dear Mr. Ross:

It is with great sadness that I send you the obituary notice for my beloved husband, Ronald Alvin MacKenzie.

Ron was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoma in November, 2008 and began treatment at the Ohio State University Hospital, James Cancer Clinic on November 28, 2008. Ron received two chemotherapy treatments in 2008 and was released from Ohio State University Hospital on January 2, 2009. Ron was scheduled to be taken to a rehabilitation center in Lancaster, Ohio, however, due to his weakened condition he was immediately taken to Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster, Ohio.

Ron spent approximately five days at Fairfield Medical Center and was admitted to a rehabilitation facility for further treatment and was to undergo additional chemotherapy treatment at Ohio State University Hospital in January, 2009, however, he was too weak.

He was so brave and never complained of any pain, or nausea, in fact one of the young doctors at Ohio State felt Ron would be able to conquer the disease because the tumor had shown signs of shrinking but it was not to be - he lost his battle on January 15,2009.

Ron and I were married thirty years and together we had a son - Ronald Andrew MacKenzie who is a senior at Ohio State. Ron had two sons from a previous marriage; John MacKenzie (wife Karen) and Dana MacKenzie (wife Chrissy and grandchildren, Jasmine, Shealin, and Kylee.)

Ron loved to knit sweaters, hats, scarves and would design his own patterns. He listened to books on tape, and rode his bicycle every day from spring to fall for exercise and fresh air.

Ron MacKenzie was a very kind, thoughtful and generous individual and I feel very blessed to have been married to such a wonderful man. I am sending you a picture of Ron and his three sons so you can see the difference of fifty years.

I know that Ron would have been happy to come to his 50th Reunion but think of him as being there in spirit as you remember your happy and carefree days together.

God bless you.

God saw he was getting tired

And a cure was not to be.

So He put His arms around him

And whispered, "Come with Me. “

With tearful eyes we watched him suffer

And saw him fade away.

Although we loved him dearly,

We could not make him stay.

A golden heart stopped beating,

Hard working hands to rest.

God broke our hearts to prove to us

He only takes the best.
