Richard A. Nelson, 44, of Marlboro, formerly of Natick, died Saturday, May 25, at his home after a lengthy illness

 

Born in Jamaica Plain, son of Edythe Nelson of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. And the late John D. Nelson DMD, he was a 1959 graduate of Natick High School, received his degree in electrical engineering from Wentworth Institute in Boston in 1962 and was an electrical engineer for Digital Equipment Corp. for eight years.

 

He had been the principal engineer for that company in Hudson for the past eight years, has lived in Marlboro for the past 21 years and was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church of Marlboro.

 

Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Janice R. (Grelotti) Nelson; four daughters, Kristen, a sophomore at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Karin, a junior at Marlboro High School, Karolyn, a freshman at Marlboro High School and Kimberly, a seventh-grader at Marlboro Middle School; two brothers, John D. Nelson of Silver Spring, Md. And Martin O. Nelson of Bothell, Wash.; One sister, Patricia N. Norden of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services were held from the John F. Rowe Funeral Home, Marlboro, on Wednesday, followed by a funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Marlboro with the Rev. Oliver Morgan, as celebrant of the Mass.

 

Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery, Marlboro
