Keith was passionate about the things that he loved:

Travel—

He loved to travel across the nation, visiting national parks, hiking, & camping. Favorites were the mountains in Wyoming and Big Bend National Park. He showed great stamina with hiking up the mountain trails, & needed far fewer rest breaks than his children.

He also enjoyed travel to places across the world, often in search of warmer weather. He was inspired by his sailing trip to mexico with his professor from UHCL. This was the start of many adventures to various places across the world, including several extended trips to Costa Rica, Spain, Brazil, and most recently Bali.

He loved the Spanish culture, including the music, food, and language. He was incorporating more Spanish into his  speech and writing, (which was becoming more difficult for his children to understand!).

Reading—I think that everyone that knew him would know that he loved to read. I think one of his favorite places to be was on his porch at the beach house reading a book and listening to music. He had a large collection of books and often gave  books as presents to the ones he loved.

Family—He was very proud of his children and loved to spend time with his family.

People—he met many people in his travels. He loved to talk to different people and could talk to anyone. He loved to talk about current events and definitely had strong opinions about politics.

It was very tough for me and my sisters and brother to deal with his death.  That's hard for me to put in writing because it's so hard and still hard to accept.  I think of him every day and really miss him.  I know he had a long list of things left on his "to do" list and it I feel so sad that his time was cut so short.  I try to think of all the positive things and think of how he would want me to feel today.  He was such a unique person and I have so much respect for him today.  Unfortunately, I did not appreciate a lot of these qualities until I was older.  He did have the courage to travel and experience so much that others never see in their lifetime.  His last trip was to Bali, and he got very ill there.  We really don't know how he made it back....but he did.  He was in the hospital and had dialysis and was expected to go home but it did not work out that way.  I don't think he would have liked the limitations of being on dialysis so.... maybe things happen for a reason.  The "final" thing that has happened was his house was washed away this past September with the Hurricane Ike.  In a weird way I think it is kind of fitting that the last of his belongings were "washed away at sea"....

I'm sorry, I have rambled on, but he is so missed and I would give anything to have him back now.
