Geoffrey Loring Belisle, 57, of Amherst, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999 at his residence after a long illness. Born in Waltham, Mass., he was the son of Ruth Macloon Belisle of Port St. Lucie, Fla. and the late Eugene Louis Belisle. Geoff received his BA from Northwestern University in 1964 and attended Washington University, studying for his Master’s Degree in Urban Studies. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969 and was posted to the Office of the Army Chief of Staff. After a long residency in Washington, D.C., Geoff moved to Virginia where he served as the City of Lynchburg’s carpenter, a post he retired from in 1998. In addition to his mother, Geoff is survived by one brother, Alexander Belisle of Vernon, Conn.; four sisters, Margo Belisle of New York City, Susan DuPont of South Royalton, Vt., Jeanne Dorval Peterson of Vernon, Conn. and Ruth Bullard of Hobe Sound, Fla. and a number of nieces and nephews.
