Fred Munro
August 2, 1940 – April 24, 2022
Frederick J. Munro, Sr., 81, of Bellingham formerly of
Marlborough and Natick died Sunday, April 24, 2022 after a yearlong
illness. Born in Natick to the late
Everett & Winifred (Hurst) Munro, Fred was a 1959 graduate of Natick High
School, and went on to graduate from the Northeast Institute majoring in
Industrial Electronics.
Fred served his country proudly in the US Airforce
during the Vietnam War, and went on to have a 40 year career at Raytheon, as a
Senior Development Engineer. He later served as Commander of the E.P. Clark
Post 107, Natick, and was a lifetime member of the VFW and Amvets posts. He
also held several positions in the MA State American Legion, most recently as
the Sr. Vice Commander. Fred served his community in Bellingham as an Auxiliary
Police Officer for 15 years.
Fred was an outdoorsman. He loved camping, and
gardening. Above all else Fred loved his family, his children, Frederick J. Jr.
of Milford, Paul of Bellingham, Andrew and his wife Dawn of Blackstone, and
Linda of Bellingham, his three grandchildren, Sarah Turcotte and her husband
Bob, Jacob Munro and Tori Munro, his great grandson, Robbie Turcotte, his
siblings, Everett, III, Jere, Peter, Dick, and many nieces and nephews.
Fred was predeceased by his former wife Shirley (Brown)
Munro, his siblings, Jane and Doug, and his longtime companion, Eleanor Rogers.
Family and friends will honor and remember Fred’s life
by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral
Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Friday, April 29th from 4-8pm. Interment
will take place at a later date in Massachusetts National Cemetery.
