August 5, 1940 – February 11, 2016
OXFORD – Dennis Lawless, Sr., 75, of Mount Pleasant Street, died
unexpectedly on Thursday, February 11, 2016, at his home. He passed in time to
join his wife of 55 years, Helen A. (McLaughlin) Lawless, who died on August
22, 2015, for Valentine’s Day - 30XX. He is survived by five children, Robert
Lawless, Kathleen A. Blanchette and her husband Paul, Debora L. Gum and her
husband Wayne, Dennis Lawless Jr. and his wife Deborah, and Cherri F. Brady,
all of Oxford; 14 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nephews and
nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond F. Lawless and Robert M.
Lawless. He was born in Natick, son of the late A. Robert and Agnes B.
(Flanagan) Lawless, and lived in Natick and Westboro before moving to Oxford 25
years ago. He graduated from Natick High School in 1959 and served in the Army
National Guard at Fort Knox, KY, and Fort Dix, NJ.
Mr. Lawless worked at Dana Transport in Oxford for the past
7 years. Previously, he owned and operated Den-L Trans in Oxford for over 25
years. He was a member of St. Roch’s Church in
Oxford. Dennis and Helen loved traveling to the Florida Keys each winter in
their motor home. He was a master mechanic, and his favorite hobby was
restoring antique cars. He looked forward to his daily breakfast with his
buddies at the East Main Cafe in Webster. He will be dearly missed by family,
friends, and his dog Harriet.
A funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, from
Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford,
followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch’s Church,
332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch’s
Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Tuesday, February 16, 2016, from 4-7 p.m.
at the funeral home.
