Robert Franciose
February 16, 1941 – June 15, 2022
Robert Joseph Franciose, 81,
of South Dennis and formerly of Framingham, died Wednesday, June 15, 2022.
He was born to the late Michael and Aurore (Germain) Franciose on February 16, 1941, in Lowell, MA. Bob was the
loving husband to Marilyn (Kane) Franciose to whom he
was married for more than 54 years.
Bob grew up in Natick, MA, and graduated from Natick High
School in 1959. He then earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in
education from Boston University. He met his bride, who was also a teacher,
during his early years of teaching and the couple resided in Framingham for
over 40 years.
His passionate career as a physical education teacher
spanned over 30 years at Bennett-Hemenway Elementary School in Natick until his
retirement in the early 2000’s. He loved being a gym teacher, often claiming he
had the best job in the world. He was also enthusiastic about coaching youth
sports and refereeing soccer at the high school and collegiate levels.
Bob was also a people person and enjoyed bartending,
most notably at the Columbus Hall in Framingham, MA, where he was also a
member, and the White Cliffs in Northborough, MA. He was a hardworking husband
and father who wanted to provide his family with the best life he could. He
loved to host at home too and would always invite friends and family over for a
cup of coffee or cocktail of their choice.
Bob absolutely loved the Cape. He spent his younger
years working/living near the water before purchasing land in South Dennis in
the early 1980’s, where he physically pitched in to build the family’s vacation
home. It was here the family spent summers, school vacations, and long
weekends, before he and Marilyn moved down permanently during their retirement
years. He was an avid golfer and an active member of the Dennis Pines and
Highlands.
He loved the ocean, whether it be fishing on his boat,
pulling his lobster pots or cruising around the Cape Cod Bay with family and
friends in tote. Bob’s love of the sea brought him and his wife on countless
cruises, annual visits to their timeshare in Aruba, and many other seaside
trips over the years, often accompanied by family.
Bob was an amazing father, attending all academic,
extracurricular, and athletic events. He was especially a very proud parent in
the bleachers at every high school and collegiate game he could squeeze into
his very active work schedule.
He adored his grandchildren and spent as much time as
possible with them: attending their educational and athletic programs, teaching
them how to fish, play cards and different sports, and going to the beach. He
was also a longtime pet owner and enjoyed caring for his cats that became part
of the family.
Besides his wife, Bob is survived by his brother and
sister-in-law, Michael and Gigi Franciose of Wareham,
MA, his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Brandee
Franciosi of Foxborough, MA, his daughter, Lynne (Franciose)
Swift of Framingham, his grandsons Bennett and Brandon Franciosi of Foxborough,
MA, his granddaughter Madeleine Swift of Framingham, MA, his brother-in-law
Robert Canal Sr. of East Dennis, MA, and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces
and nephews, and friends.
A viewing will be held from 8:30 am to 10:30 am,
Wednesday, July 6, at Doane Beal & Ames Funeral
Home in Dennis, MA, followed by a mass at 11 am at Our Lady of the Cape in
Brewster. Burial will immediately follow the mass at Oak Ridge Cemetery in
Dennis, MA.
