Dedication Ceremony

2nd Lt Allen Robert Loane Square

Cottage and Webster Streets

July 7, 2012

Rather than just post the pictures taken at the dedication ceremony for the Allen Robert Loane Memorial Square, I need to say a few words about the people responsible for making this happen.

During the beginning of the ceremony, Paul Carew, Director of Veterans Services for Natick, thanked me for organizing this event. While I did notify many people about the event and attend a Selectmen’s meeting concerning the approval of the site, I didn’t initiate the naming of the Square for Allen. I know that Russ Barber was involved in getting that started, not me. So thanks should go to Russ from the Class of 1959 and from the Loane family.

Paul Carew and all the other veteran’s advocates deserve a big thank you for all that they do for all Veterans and for getting this Square named for Allen in particular. I’m sorry that I don’t know all their names and responsibilities, but they all get our thanks regardless.

To the Town of Natick, a truly great job. From the Selectmen, Joshua Ostroff in particular(he brought and read the Resolutions from the State House and Senate) to the highway department for erecting the pole and plaque.

Having been born and raised in Natick, I am truly proud of all that you do for those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

Allan Ross, Natick High School, Class of 1959
